Mahabalipuram is a significant place for tourists interested in witnessing South Indian architecture. However the place does not seem to have grown beyond its small town image. Both its size and heart are exactly that - small! So when you go there, please make proper arrangements and well in advance. And bargain bargain bargain! It helps if you know tamil.Food, sight-seeing and shopping
Apart from the popular spots, I liked spending time on the beach. You can take a ride into the Bay of Bengal and see the submerged temples. I also liked the handicraft bazar at the Shore temple. Activities & things to do
Sightseeing. There's not much else to do. Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc.
Stay away from 'Greenwood Beach Resort'. The owner / manager made a comment 'I prefer not having Indians as guests. They demand the world and don't want to pay' As for food, you'll not have too many options so be prepared. | |
