Part of the Nilgiri Biosphere and adjacent to Karnataka's Bandipur NP, Mudumalai is a bit of a contrast. The reason for this is a stream which runs through it and works as the lifeline of the sanctuary. I have always had better oppurtunties of wildlife sightings in Mudumalai than Bandipur - latest being a herd of wild elephants crossing the road as we were on our way to Ooty.Food, sight-seeing and shopping
There is an elephant training camp and numerous 'machchans' for elephant sightings. Mudumalai also has quite a few safari tracks, each offering a different habitat. Activities & things to do
Jungle safaris, elephant training camps. Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc.
Can be accessed best from B'lore - 4 hours' drive. One hour away from Ooty. Check out park closure timings - monsoons maybe a bad time to visit. | |
