Mudumalai - part of the Nilgiris biosphere reserve. While driving through Mudumalai and the adjoining Bandipur sanctuaries, one gets to see chital (spotted dear), peacocks and if lucky enough elephants and wild boars. Not to forget the occasional sighting of an eagle or a brahmini kite on one of the branches. Also if one were to drive showly enough you cannot miss the wagtails, green kingfishers and the mynahs.Food, sight-seeing and shopping
The tours offered by the forest department in small mini buses are quite recommended. We got to see tuskers, chital, mongoose, peafowls. The crowds in the bus tend to get noisy and forget that one will get to see the animals only if there is complete silence. Activities & things to do
We stayed at the Monarch Resort in Masinagudi. The resort is basic but nice. It has a small kids play area also. Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc.
The best way is to travel by ones own vehicle - allows ease of access and the luxury of time. Also since the resorts are all located at Masinagudi, which is almost some 7 kms from Mudumalai, it is essential to have vehicle. | |
