Food, sight-seeing and shopping
There are not many. Boat ride in the lake is time worthy and gong to kiliyur falls is also worthy but plz make sure in the summer whether water is flowing in the falls. Visiting MontFord school is also must because it looks like an university, nice school even actor vikram studied there and lot of celebrities studied there. Not much to shop except few home made chocolates.

You can go for trekking if you get a good guide. Not much activities to do.

No need to explain about how to reach salem as it's well connected through lot of national highways from various cities. If you are going by bus from yercaud to salem then there are not much buses. During the season time all buses will be crowded while entering the bus stand itself as local people will get into the bus at the entrance itself so plz don't wait at the exact place where yercaud bus will come and waste your time.
