Thank god. It was a mistake that we reached here. In a lazy evening of the early april we were supposed to reach Mukteshwar and we missed the road. Destiny called us here. After a long tiring drive from Delhi we decided to break the night here.
The sleep was broken with a chorus of chirping birds and a madding sight of snow caps of the himalayas - nandadevi and trishul with its majestic golden dazzle. I would strongly recomend 'Peora' as a better alternative to mukteshwar. Food, sight-seeing and shopping
Peora has put up a no-entry for those who want to travel for shopping or glamour. It grants a visa for the nature lovers only. Aimless sight-seeing and traversing should be your philosophy of touring here. Restrict your outside movements after sunset. It is safer to hear a roaring leopard from your hotel room than encountering outside though there is no report of man-eaters! Activities & things to do
The place is for a perfect leisure without any defined activities. Carry a pair of binoculars for animal spotting and bird watching. Or else you could trek to Mukteshwar - an easy trek of 9 km through the deep jungles of pine, silver oaks and rhodrodendrons. You also have the option of going for a lake tour or you could visit Nainital, Almora or Jageshwar temple. Do not miss by the riverside picnic - kwarab river flowing down below. You could drive straight from Delhi or reach Kathgodam by train and then take a car. Do not forget to recharge tank from khairna. Otherwise the nearest filling station will be at Almora. | |
