Food, sight-seeing and shopping
The 'city of tals' would have taken the honours of 'city of lakes' from udaipur, had it been a city of sorts. But that comes as a blessing in disguise, for the sheer fact that nainital is natural. We decided to make it a 'taal' trip as we went across bhimtal, naukuchiatal and can't tell number of taals and simply relaxed on its banks and boats. In the evening we could manage to pack in a few brass show-pieces and candles, more as souvenier for friends, before unwinding in the large terrace of the hotel overlooking another lake and enjoying the real winter chill

Activities & things to do
This trip of ours was meant to travel minimum on road and relax maximum around lakes. So we went boating three times in a day. The large span of the lakes surrounded by real greenery with sunshine passing through the mountains and reflecting on the lakes simply destressed our bodies and mind. And we even managed to get a shikara ride too in a more natural looking lake than the dal lake in Shrinagar.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc.
We decided to board a train from Delhi to reach Kathgodam with the sole intention of reducing our road travel. And this ensured that we were fresh for the serene drive from Kathgodam to Nainital. And we had relaxed quite a lot going around various lakes by the time we reached Nainital, the city. May I suggest a trip for all of you where you stay away from morning till evening sight-seeing, sacrifice the gun-hill tops and lover-points for once and simply relax in the winter sun, around the lakes and in the boats. And Oct-Dec would be the ideal time to do that. Go for it.
