City of Temples | | Overview of the destinationIt is very well connected with major cities through air and railways. The best time to visit is in winter. The old Varansi is crowded but it has a life and old world charm. To experience that charm you need to roam around the lanes and bye-lanes of Varanasi. Food, sight-seeing and shopping
The major attraction of this place is its food and sari. Varanasi is famous for milk related food items like Peda ( sweet) and Lassi. Don't miss the Lassi of Ramnagar and Peda of Varanasi. Regarding Sari you need to be cautious as touts roam around. From drivers to beggars all will approach you to sell sari. You must not believe them. Always go to Kunj Gali at Chowk and buy after bargaining. Never trust anybody in this respect. Activities & things to do
Varanasi is one of the most respected place to Hindu pilgrims for it is the place of temples. But pilgrims of other religions will also find it attractive as Sarnath is nearby. Another place to see is Ramnagar palace. A two day trip is sufficient. Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc.
