Overview of the destination Amritsar... a city of hussle and bussle but a very rich experience as far as culture, food, sight-seeing and relegious activities are involved.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping I have mentioned this in my opinion for activities.
Activities & things to do A lot to do - sight seeing which involves visit to the Golden Temple, Jalianwala Bagh, Temples in and around the city, Wagah - Atari Border, Shopping for Punjabi Juttis, Clothes, Eatables like Amritsari Papad and Wadiyan... umm if you like it all spicy and masaledar ! Well how can you forget the Dhaba food and Makhan wali lassi when U R at Amritsar... and remember to eat the prasad and langar when u r at the Golden Temple... If you have ample time... be there for the 'Palki' and do 'Seva' at the Temple...
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc. Well... we used the train mode of travel from Delhi. Train is a good option if you like to be comfortable, spend economically on your travel and love to spend quality time with friends and family even during the journey. Amritsar has a good airport, good connectivity by road and trains with different parts of India. As usual be aware of what should be the acceptable charges of cabs and 3-wheelers or else be ready to get overcharged... this is a particular travel tip for any place you visit in India. Do not get hassled by drivers... just be firm and decisive when they approach you.
