Kolkata | 14th March 2007 | | | A LITTLE REFRESHMENT | Overview of the destinationIt was a nice trip for 4 days. Enjoyed the beauty of 'QUEEN OF HILL', the greenery , Beautiful gardens, dense vegetation and of course the challenging rocks of Mountain peaks covered with snow. Food, sight-seeing and shopping
Must try sauces and burgers hotdogs in Keventers.
Botanical gardens, rock gardens, rope way, Ghoom, stadium etc Activities & things to do
rock climbing; trekking etc Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc.
Darjeeling is in Northern part of Bengal, full of greenery and vegetation. Darjeeling can be reached from Kolkata by road, train or by air. Nearest airport is in Bagdogra ( 85 KM from here ). By train you can reach New Jalpaiguri station and avail Toy Train to Darjeeling ( it will take approx 5 hrs) and very pleasant journey. Or by road it takes 4 hrs (approx 70 Km) fare is around Rs. 90/head. Buses and pvt. taxis are available always. Nearest sub divisional town is Siliguri. It is recomended to carry all the necessary articles from Siliguri to Darjeeling as the costs are little bit high. | |

 guide me | | i m coming on 28th Nov.08 for 3 days with my parents to visit Darjeeling.

1.what are the traosport facility from Bagdogra airport to Darjeeling?
2. best local area to stay (range 500-1200/-)from the facility(transport/food) assebility point opf view?
3. best way for site seeing.( hiring a cab or sharing taxi??)

i am planning for a visit to darjeeling end dec ( 27dec to 8 jan)
but my family is reluctant , it seems the climate would be pretty bad.
as we will live in mumbai.
darjeeling might get pretty chill.
