Overview of the destination
Kalimpong is a small town situated at just 3 hrs drive from Siliguri. A town which is not at much height like Darjeeling & Gangtok but has some most beautiful views and an ideal place to relax.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping
Well, we stayed at Hotel Silver Oaks and the experience was satisfactory. For pure vegetarian food Hotel Kailash was our favourite destination and as far as shopping is concerned leather items and shoes took all of our attention. Specially, my favourite shop was a small shop named GALAXY run by a Marwari guy Mr. Raunak Agarwal who was very friendly and helped us like a guide and he was Mr. Kalimpong for us. Kudos for the friendly resident like him.

Activities & things to do
Well, nothing special except lazing. Kalimpong has very few places worth watching where my favourites were Deolo Hill, Hanuman Temple and Mangal dham ashram. Especially deolo hill has a magnificent view of the valley. The town has some beautiful gardens and a local level competition for best gardens motivates every hoteliers to maintain a nice garden in its premises. Thanks to Hotel Silver oaks who was a regular winner for best garden.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc.
Well, we went in June month when rain has started but no need to take even light woollen in summers as you may need fans in the hotels. Kalimpong is best approachable while going to Gangtok. If you are willing to reside in a hotel in the midst of natural beauty then better you keep the car along with you in order to make your journey hassle-proof. People are friendly but market closes latest by 8 pm sharp.
