New Delhi | 7th May 2007 | | Kolkata a pleasant surprise. | Overview of the destination
My only brother expired in Kolkata on 30th April. He was a visitor there. I reached the same morning and started for the Nursing home at 7.30 pm. We purchased a prepaid Taxi ticket and were pleasantly surprised to find that a taxi number was also printed on the ticket. We boarded the taxi and started for the nursing home. It was a heavy traffic all through. Never there was a shouting, abuse, one blaming another etc. We were stuck at a crossing; a bus standing next to us moved backward, and gave way to traffic coming from the other side, again, no shouting no blaming. The Driver checked with a few passers by and reached us to the destination. We took the body out, put it on a glass carriage and started towards to do last rite. We completed at 1.30 pm and looked and found a taxi at that time. He did not haggle and look for a good Hotel at Park Street. The Driver took the cost and left.
Next day it was the same. A cab was called; he waited for us for 15 minutes, without any cribbing. Took us to the Ghat, waited for 45 minutes while we collected the ashes, and then took us to the Airport.
Our misery was halved.Food, sight-seeing and shopping
Kolkata has all good Restaurants. Good Food, snacks
and shopping. You will not be taken for a ride ever I can assure you Activities & things to do
Travel to near by tourist spots with economical rate Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc.
We took a cheap IA tickets and stayed in Heera International. A single A/C room, with a bar and ready made tea/coffee maker all for INR.1200/- | |
