Nainital Experience: The amazing locale of Nainital has a lot to offer to its visitors. This wasn't my first time to Nainital. I had been there when I was a child. I barely remembered what it was like being in Nainital. Three of my friends and I, along with our driver, decided to visit the city of Nainital. We boarded from New Delhi and started out Journey! The distance between the two cities is about 300 kilometers. Many major cities come in between New Delhi and Nainital such as Hapur, Moradabad, Ghaziabad, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor and Nagina - but it largely depends upon the route you take.
Apart from the fun loving all four of us, our driver was also quite a character. His name was 'Kashmiri'. We called him 'Kashmiri Ji' - a man probably in his mid forties. He smoked bidi and drove very carefully and sensibly in those difficult and testing circular paths that go round and round on a mountain.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Corbett National Park - Has been named after Jim Corbett!
Ranikhet - It's an army cantonment area.
Naukuchiatal - It is a nine cornered lake and it is a legend that whoever sees all the nine corners in one sight attains Nirvana!
Khurpatal - Peace and serenity.
Sattal - A group of seven lakes near Nainital.
Bhimtal - The largest of all the lakes around.
Activities & things to do: Boating in the Naini Lake, Eating the local Food, Walking long distances, Observing and enjoying the peacefulness and tranquility, A lot of photographing.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: From Delhi, it takes almost 9 hours to reach. Google Maps can be a real help. There are more than one routes, equally good, to reach Nainital from Delhi. Hiring a car is the best option if you don't have experience driving in mountainous sites.
