"River Rafting at Kolad"

  • 7.0/7

Kolad - It reminds me of splashes of energy, enthusiasm and passion to raft over the Kundalika river.
The trip to Kolad has been the most memorable experience of my life. Travelling all around Panvel, Nagothane, Pen, we finally reached Kolad at 9am. As we reached the starting point of our rIver rafting, we were thrilled to feel the enthusiasm all around.
We were ready with our Lifejackets, helmets and paddles on. Against the splashes we were paddling our way, creating some crystalline moments which we would cherish life long.
After river rafting we gorged on some vada pavs at the snack stalls.
Cost of river rafting: 1200/-
Time: 3-4hrs

Kolad is best known for adventurous activities mainly River Rafting - only one in India which remains open round the year. We visited Kolad especially for River Rafting in the month of August. River Rafting in Monsoon at Kolad is highly adventurous and recommended.
Kolad is somewhat 3hrs of distance from Mumbai. Having private vehicle is beneficial as one has to reach by 8. 30 a. M. For rafting.
Rafting takes around 3 hrs in total and is of 12-13 kms. Rafting in Kundalika river is one of the best experiences I ever had. River flowing in its full, flanked by lush green trees gives feeling of Amazon River. There are around 5-6 rapids in Kundalika river.
Most amazing part of adventure comes after rafting when everybody flaws in the river. Having a life jacket saves from drowning. It's incredible experience and every adventure enthusiastic must feel this.
Do not forget to dive into river from raft. It's one of the unsaid feeling of joy. Bring GoPro if have, as it ll be very useful in capturing the activity or else rafting guide can capture videos and pictures but ll charge hefty.
There are changing rooms available at starting point if rafting in various guest houses. We stayed in one named Pooja which even have some boat house like guest house. Different adventure activities like Kayaking, zip lining, rippling are also available in Kolad. One can. Stay overnight in camps and do some trekking in the vicinity.

"1 Night stay at KOLAD - river rafting is adventurous"

Let me tell you first, Kolad is a cheapest place to visit with fun filled environment. River rafting including stay & food cost you max Rs. 3000

We started from Kalyan at our own vehicle & reached Kolad (Sai farms / Jungle stay) in 3. 5 hrs. Sai farms has all those things which a sports person required or a couple.

Yes, badminton / cricket sets, football, Table tennis, fishing, swimming pool, 2 Doberman (Don't get panic) & a farm like stay / room (Don't expect a deluxe or suite there). Food was above average with veg / non veg to choose from. Air-cooler was available along with other service as & when required. No network connectivity at all, so stay calm without expecting any text or call :)

Next day early morning at 8 am we went for river rafting (after all that was the purpose of our visit) at about 18 kms from Sai Farms. Rafting can be experienced 365 days a year, the only place to do so.

This all comes with a package of Rs. 2400 (incl stay / food & river rafting). This all was arranged by Trip Platform (search Google for contacts)

Tips : Carry GPS enabled device & children above 14 yrs of age for rafting.

For those who cannot travel up north for some White Water rafting adventure, suggest you visit Kolad which is just 3. 5 hours drive from Mumbai. In Kolad, you will find the Kundlika river water rafting very thrilling and exciting. Covers almost 12- 14km stretch of gushing water & rapids and ends with a smooth floating on the waters of the river. Found a group of professionals who covers video and photography while you venture rafting.
