I was visiting Chennai, my native place, after a good 15 years so was expecting a lot of changes there. Sadly, I didn't see much of a change and its still a pretty average place to be in. A major annoying part was to see some Uber guys, especially from the airport, insisting on cash trips. Was there only for a couple of days so thankfully, didn't make that much difference to me.

"A perfect holiday trip with beaches, zoos, parks, temples, cafes and shopping around"

  • 5.0/7

My trip was scheduled for 4 days in May 2018 from Chennai hotel like this :. (1)Day 1 : Local sight seeing (in car provided by temple, Kapaleswar temple, parks, Birla Planetarium, Marina light house, Marina beach. (2)Day 2 : MGM Dizzee World-Full exhausted by the time we returned to room. (3)Day 3 : Outstation sight seeing (in car provided by Hotel)-Guindy govt museum, Besant Nagar-Ashtalakshmi temple, VGP golden beach, Crocodile park, Muttukad boating, Mahabalipuram-beach, shopping, Kanchipuram. (4)Day 4 : Arignar Anna Zoo Park(Vandalur)-upto 03pm, Parrys corner-upto 05pm, T Nagar(Ranganathan street)-upto 09pm. Though I missed Pondicchery in the trip which is famous for beaches, shopping of customs items like liquor, electronics, clothes etc it is not advisable for families. Good time to visit : August-Feb. Must-visit places : Apart from the above places, do visit St. George Fort, IIT Madras, Vivekananda House/Park, Santhome beach, Pondy bazar, Madras Port/harbour, Chidambaram stadium, Madras High Court, Queensland. Must-carry items : UMBRELLA, sunscreen lotion, cotton clothes, lot of drinking water. Must-nots : Small children and high luggage (As the city is long and highly humid), jeans, travelling in vehicles other than car(It eats entire time), taking Marina road after 5pm(huge traffic), compromising on short time for local(in-city) places

"Awesome place"

Chennai is one of the best place to visit. The weather is very humid. The communication is awesome. People are very helpful. Most of them can understand english therefore language was not a barrier. Sea beaches, malls are must to visit. The traffic is too much so crossing the road is a bit difficult. I suggest to visit Chennai

"Great Experience other than uber, ola taxi service"

  • 7.0/7

Accord Metropolitan is a good 5 star hotel with curtious staff & hospitability. Breakfast was huge with so many variety. Roof Top is a must visit. Uber & Ola taxis are very useless. Every driver asks where you have to go & cancels the trip. Or takes too much time. Very very bad taxi service. There can be better facilities & cleanliness on Marina Beach.

Best place to do family shopping in T Nagar, Pangaea Park. Pothis, Kumarana, Nallis. Full choices. Decent places to have veg food and many choices for non-veg . Balaji, Adayar ananda Bhavan, satavanbhawan, and many more. Non-veg Mappillai and many more. Clean and big roads, excellent local transport. Enjoy the Beach marina and Santhome beaches, great temples kapaleeahwarar temple Mylapore, Thiruvallikeni Parthasarathy temple, Gandhi Mangalam, Guindy snake park, Go to OMR and enjoy a day full at golden beach, Asiatic village for artisans, and further to Mahabalipuram. Overall a great place for a 5 day trip except the sweltering heat which you can't help
