This is one of the UNESCO World heritage and has its own history. If you are visiting Goa for the first time; do stop by the church and the museum opposite to the church.
The place has its own parking and quite a lot of shops to purchase any Goan kinds of stuff.
You can have food at Rathna Sagar; it's a decent place and food is also good. There is a wine shop inside this restaurant; do avoid to purchase anything here if you are not expert at identifying liquors.

It is very popular church of Goa, and the dead body of Fransis Xavier lies here since 300 years. And in every 10 year the body is opened and people pray. Normally even when I visited here I saw the body and the church was wairth watching.

Holding the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier, Basilica of Bom Jesus is popular among tourists from around the world.

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the church is India's first minor basilica and is one of the best examples of baroque architecture in India.

The interior of the church is beautifully complimented with paintings from the life of St. Francis.

Tip: You're not allowed to take selfies in the church and might be fined, if caught.

St Basilica of Bom Jesus is one of the major attractions in Old Goa and truly beautiful. It takes you back to history of Portugal era. The architecture is Roman and adds rustic feel to the whole structure. Catholics across world as well as non Catholics come to pay respects to body of St Francis kept in this church which has magical and divine powers. Avoid wearing shorts as they don't allow in nearby churches. Wear decent clothes as it is a religious place and they might not allow or simple carry a stole. Don't consult guide as they simply repeat the story and hardly give any insights. You can Google about the church and everything would be there for you.

One of the most famous churches in Old Goa, the Basilica contains the tomb and mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier in a glassed coffin amid a shower of gilt stars.

The basilica combines the elements of Doric, Ionic and Corinthian design. 'IHS' is emblazoned at the top of the church entrance, which is the first three letters of Jesus in Greek.

Tip: No Selfies and photographing a person inside the church are allowed inside the church. Beware you'll be fined if found guilty.

Basilica of Bom Jesus, often called as Basilica of Good Jesus, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Possessing the example of Baroque architecture, the church is India’s first minor basilica named after infant Jesus. Holding the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier, the church is situated in Old Goa.   The monument was constructed by extremist Portuguese rulers on the original site of a temple of Lord Shiva.

Started in 1594, the construction of the   church was completed in the month of May, in 1605. The church houses the body of St. Francis Xavier, who founded the Society of Jesus with his friend St. Ignatius Loyola. The church attracts thousands of devotees to the place, when the body is taken out for public viewing after every ten years. Last public viewing of the body was held in the year 2004.
