Kasargod Experience: Bekal is one of the nice weekend getaway in kerala. The fort is surrounded by the beach which makes it Very picturistic. it is around 60kms from Mangalore. There is also backwaters and houseboats 25 kms from Bekal.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Bekal fort, Anantha Padmanabaswamy temple (15kms from Bekal), not much of shopping place but if you want to checkout then you find shopping centres in Kanhagad. The restaurant in the resort just beside the fort (sorry,forgot the name) is a very good one.
Activities & things to do: You can go for a trek from fort to the backwaters
