Ladakh (Leh) Experience: Ladakh region is totally different from any destination in India with least vegetation but hilly terrain and holiday spots and monastries. People are generally very friendly.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: No problem for non vegetarians but there are are a few dhabas catering to vegetarians as far as Leh town is concerned. Vegetarians going for day long sight seeing should carry snack etc for their lunch. Shopping in Leh town can be very worthwhile for wood work items and chinese artifacts. Pangong Lake is not to be missed destination but atleast a six day stay one can cover all the extraordinary places.
Activities & things to do: Bikers can have their best of time in Ladakh with appropriately prepared programmes, so do trekkers. Other travelling by vehicles can enjoy the thrill of driving the hilly terrain to all places and all should experiment the magnetic hills.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Travellers should be prepared for high altitude sickness with appropriate medication. They if possible should carry min oxygen cylinder as a precaution.
If reaching by air should acclimatize themselves with at least a day's rest. Consumption of more water is a remedy to the high altitude sickness. People with chronic problems should avoid going to Ladakh. Road drive to Leh will be a very exciting experience.
