Tarkarli Experience: The place is an ideal weekend destination , an overnight journey from Mumbai. It has an endless beach stretch. The beach is secluded except on Sundays and National Holidays when bus loads of picnickers throng the beach. Apart from the beach you can visit the Sindhudurga Fort, and also enjoy water sports and Karli river cruises. You can call it as a perfect beach vacation.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: MTDC restaurant offers the best veg. food in Tarkarli. Also the restaurant location is excellent and right on the beach. While in the Malvan City, Sagar Kinara offers good Punjabi Food. Cashew nuts and Kokam Sharbet are the most famous items to shop. The Sindhudurga Fort is the most prominent landmark. It is suituated right in the middle of the sea one has to go there by Boat. It is highly recommended to utilize the services of a guide while visiting the fort. One can also hire a motorboat to go for Dolphin sighting, Bhogve beach and Sangam where Arabian Sea and Karli River meet.

Activities & things to do: MTDC has started Snorkeling Activity which can be done by non swimmers also, however check the visibilty in the sea before signing up for the activity as the water becomes too murky at times. The charges for the same are Rs. 150/- per person for half an hour including the snorkeling gear. Water sports activity like Speed boat, water scooter are also provided by the MTDC.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Kudal is the nearest railway station. Rikshaw from the station will cost around Rs. 300 to reach Tarkarli. Best time to visit the place is during the Winter season when the weather is cool through out the day. Advance booking is a must during bank holiday weekends especially for MTDC as it gets full during the season.
