It was an amazing experience, the weather surprisingly was awesome too and that added on to the amazing view from the fort, though the green landscaping which was there earlier has been modelled into some historical square with important dates regarding the fort on it, but still Aguada has it's old world charm!
The wall facing the sea always reminds me of Dil Chahta hai sequence! It is a must go when you are in Goa

"Has a rustic past"

  • 6.0/7

This place is very good interms of appearance, visiting and landscapes. We can have a good view of river-ocean combination from the top of the fort. We can imagine how the prisoners were caged here and even the walls of the fort tells us about this. We can find cool environment inside the fort although during scorching sun. It takes a bit more time to get around the fort like here and there. This place is very photogenic one irrespective of the weather.

"King of lighthouses"

This majestic lighthouse is one of the most beautiful and must visit places in North Goa. Fort Aguada is easily accessible from Calangute /Candolim. The view of Mandovi River from the walls of the fort is truly mesmerizing. However, the place becomes very crowded on weekends and tourist season.

One time visit is must for all the first timers in Goa. Its located in North Goa and is easily reachable from Calangute beach. If you want to experience royal stay near this venue then try our in Taj Lands which is very near from this venue.

About Fort Aguada

voted as clean

Fort Aguada was built in the early 16th century, during the time of the Portuguese rule in Goa. The fort was constructed with an aim to protect Goa from the attacks of neighbouring kingdoms. The fort is a fine example of colonial architecture. The fort has a citadel, which has an orbicular lighthouse tower, raised in 1864. Presently, the fort has been turned into a central jail and some sections of the fort lie in ruins.
