"A Modern Temple In Hyderabad Is "The Jagannath Temple""

  • 5.5/7
  • Posted Jul 12, 2016
The Jagannath Temple is located near Banjara Hills, road no 12 at Hyderabad. It is near about 5 to 6 km distance from Madhapur. We booked a cab to visit the temple and reached there within twenty minutes. Out side of the temple, parking place is there so had face no problem. A modern temple in Hyderabad is constructed by the local Odiya community. The temple is dedicated to the Hindu God Jagannath. It's a replica of original Jagannath temple of Puri, Orissa. Wonderful red colour temple is a must visit place for its architectural magnificence. The red colour of the temple is due to the usage of sand stone. Rath Yatra is the main festival of Orissa. So the Annual Rath Yatra Festival is also celebrated here with a great pomp. This temple also attracts art lovers due to its wonderful captivating architecture.

"Ugly Environment"

  • 4.5/7
  • Posted Apr 11, 2016
The Environment, specially the area where "bhog" is prepared for Holy Jagannath is very ugly and the system by which the "bhog" is prepared is not hygienic. Proper care should be taken by Temple Trust to upgrade the system in Modern society.

"Peaceful temple"

  • 6.0/7

The temple is situated at Banjara hills and you can reach there via cab, car or auto. The temple is of Lord Krishna and exactly same as Jagannath Temple. The temple is really beautiful and nice. The walls have a sketch of Krishna Leela and stories of god. The temple opens in the early morning and close at 9pm.

Very beautiful & peaceful temple, kept very clean and is well organised. Amazing colourful painting on temple wall showing different mythological stories in them. Cameras are allowed inside except in the main temple, ample parking space is available and it is in the centre of the city.

"Holy temple"

  • 6.5/7

We went there couple of times. This holy temple provides divine and peaceful atmosphere. It's very good that one can offer prayers to Lord Jagannath without visiting Puri. Must visit if you are in Hyderabad.

About Jagannath Temple

86%
voted as clean
The Jagannath Temple, situated near Banjaara Hills Road, in Hyderabad is dedicated to Lord Krishna, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The sanctum sanctorum of the temple, which was constructed in 2009, houses the idols of Lord Jagannath along with his siblings, Balabhadra and Subhadra. There are also shrines dedicated of Lakshmi, Shiva, Ganesh, Hanuman and Navagrahas. Idols were carved out of neem wood.
It is a replica of the original Jagannath (Lord of Universe) Temple of Puri in Orissa except in size. Shikhara (top), measuring around 70 ft in height, is the most attractive portion of the temple.
The temple is famous for the annual Rathyatra festival. The temple is open in the morning and evening.
Although the Jagannath Temple is a religious site, there are many other tourist attractions located nearby like the Charminar, Hussain Sagar Lake, Ramoji Film City, Nehru Zoological Park, Snow World and Golkonda. As such, not only the devotees, but also the tourists and wanderlust will find something of interest in Hyderabad.
The taxis, buses and auto rickshaws are available from Hyderabad centre to the Jagannath Temple. The best period for a visit to the temple would be the months stretching from October to February.
