Kanheri caves consist of a total 109 caves which are connected through an intrinsic water canal and most of the caves are the monk’s viharas. Almost all the region of caverns are accessed by rock carved foot path and at other places, there are steeply inclined paths which makes it impossible to climb sometimes, it really is a hardcore journey. Moving to top part of the mountain was one of the better experiences one can have. The entire view of monks water canal system can be seen and we get a spectacular view of the park’s landscape. And my suggestion is please carry enough water bottles and chips because it's a long walk journey.

In mid of crowded city like Mumbai, Kanheri caves are part of National park and it's a trek of few kilometres. But it's a divine beautiful place and specially in rains, go with extra clothes. Have fun under many waterfalls there and explore the caves.

Can't believe it's in Mumbai.
It's very well maintained. Decent crowd due to entry fee. Very safe as security is always there. Well maintained, cleaned & free from plastic. Hard to beieve as Mumbai got such a lush green, pure air place. Par ling Lot needs lot of improvement as it's not organised at all. Need to install information board on every caves to get more info about history.

My wife and I had a hilarious and unforgettable visit to Caves temple - setting sail from Gateway of India via ferry. Could reach in 55 minutes and took toy train (Rs 10/- per head) which recalled the school days. The caves were quite cool and made us breathless upon seeing idols of Lord Shiva. And we spent 4 hours forgetting lunch!!

"These caves are located in..."

These caves are located in Sanjay Gandhi National Park which is near to the city and which do not take more than 20 mins from the city. This was an amazing cave site inside a national park.. The entrance ticket for each is 100/- and "worthful trip for every penny".. The visitors who visit this place "should be ready to climb some hill rocks" to view this place by ropes.. When entered to the park one must opt for a "car or bus or cycle ride into the park". And the "cycle ride is preferred".. Caves are of "buddhist" religious ones are so "awesome and very terrific too".. So I recommend to not miss this place when coming to Mumbai city for a tour..
