Great lake for a morning walk, tons of cranes and other water birds. A full walk around the lake is 4 km. Nice marshy coves provide a natural habitat for water birds. You can enter the lake in front of the Gangothri Glades campus, which is also a Cricket stadium.

Great lake with a boating option. Perfect for romantic evening gateway with your dear ones. There are kids play area and bird park. It can be turned into a wonder place with greenery if maintained properly.

The Mysore University and Kalamandir are beautified by the still and clear Kukkarahalli Lake. Watching the sunrise at the lake is soothing to the body and mind and lets you live in the sensations of positivity. The beauty of the lake is that it houses around 180 species of birds and also lets you witness different kinds of birds that come from as far as Siberia during migration. This is certainly a sight never to miss!

The lake spreads for over 58 hectares, runs for up to 5 kilometres and has the royal Chamundi Hills as its backdrop. It is surrounded by lush greenery and, with such a breath-taking view, it is an ideal track for walkers, joggers and cyclists to go by. It also has a lot of benches which allow people to sit and admire the beauty of the lake.

Mummadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar has been instrumental in making this lake such a stunning one in 1864. One of the most renowned poets of Karnataka, Kuvempu, is said to have been captivated by this scenic beauty that it encouraged him to pen down a lot of his works that won him accolades.

The lake is open from 6 AM to 6 PM and the entry is free for all. The lake is 3 kilometres from the Mysore city and the same distance from the Mysore railway station.
