"Quiet & Serene"

  • Posted 2 years ago
This place in the otherwise busy district of Maharashtra has a charm of its own. The hills and valleys play a beautiful seranade. The breathtaking view from Arthur's Seat and Monkey's point leaves you gasping and admiring God's creations. The lake in the centre adds honey to the heavenly view. The first sunrise just takes your breath away. A true heaven on earth.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: There are not many restaurants around but the real thrill lies in eating at roadside dhabas which have a variety of food for all palates. Hotels like Swagat, Fredricks & Dina Hotels have their quaint menus serving Parsi, Italian, Goan cuisines. For shopping, you do not miss the big malls of the city as you go hopping in the bazaar which gives a variety of stuff like fresh strawberries to Mapro Jams, Chocolates, Squashes to Jute bags. The famous Kolhapuri chappals are all out on array beckoning even the stubborn buyer luring him to purchase - the wide range of colours leave you asking for more.

Activities & things to do: Boating on the lake is a must. You can chose between a row boat or a speed boat and take time to enjoy pedalling away.Trekking is also very enjoyable as you get to see nature in its real splendour. Bargaining for strawberries and eating corn on the cob is fun which you never get to enjoy in the busy cities.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Really very cold from December onwards upto Febraury. You can reach either from Mumbai or Pune by road. The roads are superb and you can take the Pune expressway or come from Mahad. The winding ghats are a real pleasure taking you up and down with breathtaking views on both sides.

Good environment with lots of oxygen which make the person sooooooooo healthy.... good people.... gooooood co-operation from the local people.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: We took our lunch and dinner at ZALAWADI SAMAJ BHOJNALAYA in Panchgani........ pure food and homely environment .........soooooo much tasty........one visited it once who does not like to miss this place for meal.
We daily went to Panchgani for meal from Mahableshwar where there is tourist place, there is high cost....... it is natural.

Activities & things to do: Good thing, good people, good environment with full force of oxygen and good activities.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Best tourist place... We visited it on October end, this visit was repeated after sixteen years...... it was so memorable for us....soooooo much good...
We are physically handicapped persons.so we reached there by car.... good roads up to the destination..... there isn't any danger which touch to your heart.

"Quick trip"

  • Posted 2 years ago
I always liked the Hill Stations, the view, the weather., everything attracts me towards it. Mahabaleshwar is again a very attractive place, slightly far from Mumbai when compared to Matheran; but definitely not worth skipping from your holiday list. the weather was very pleasant with fresh and slightly cod breeze which kept me swinging all day long, worst part for me is if i love any place i hate to leave it and i always wanted to stay as long as i can; so it happened to me - where i had to leave with my feelings dead as i had planned only 2 days n 2 nights for this trip - which is definitely not useful - i wanted to stay for another 6-7 days to be into it n to feel its smell deep into my heart when i leave.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Local people as we call localities were very generous, helpful and with a quick responsive nature. I haven't noted any type of nuisance in Mahabaleshwar be it related to Food, Shopping or Sight seeings as compared to other Hill stations. prices were slightly higher but they were reasonable because we cant expect the normal metro shoppers rate at hill stations. Pratapgarh Fort was worth walking to take the trip followed by Mapro Gardens all filled with Falero plumpy chocolates.

Activities & things to do: Best is hiking and walking all by your own.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Make sure you pack up some snacks on your way down;hire a best travel agent with comfortable vehicle as from Mumbai its a slightly long journey; don't try to book the cheapest hotel; but the best you can according to your budget; but definitely not the costliest one as its wont be of any good use. A descent hotel will do.
