"Misty Coorg, awesome place."

  • Posted Aug 19, 2011
One of the best places I visited .Scenery, Natural beauty and the temples are of no comparison.Very cool and calm.I loved the place.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Food - Not as such was ok ok ..
Sight Seeing - Talacauvery, Abby falls, Raja's seat.

Activities & things to do: 1. Go to Talacauvery and definitely climb the Brhamagiri hills.
2. Enjoy Abby falls.
3. Musical fountain at Raja's seat.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: 1. Hire a cab or go in your own vehicle.
2. Carry umbrella / raincoats.
3. Eat packaged food.

"Coorg....a heaven"

  • Posted Jul 30, 2011
Coorg is an awesome place....its green, its misty, its foggy, its everything one could ask for to be in a place not short of heaven...

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: We stayed at a resort, i have to say the food is amazing and value for money...at some 700 bucks, one gets a buffet treat for breakfast, lunch and dinner..and plenty of variety and the taste is even better....we spent two hours in just eating so that we could digest what we had and have some more....

Activities & things to do: Plenty...white water rafting, Atv bikes in coffee plantations, Mysore tour, spice plantation tours, Abby waterfalls, temples, tombs.....

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: We went from Mumbai via Mangalore...caught the Madhyagantha express , reached Mangalore and from there u have two choices..taxi and bus..taxis cost around 2500 one side and buses from 100 to 300 per person...KSRTC buses are pretty good, though not total luxury, but travellable....only problem is the road from Mangalore to Coorg (one has to say Madikeri not Coorg, since Coorg is the region and Madikeri the exact place)..is full of pot holes , so it takes a good 5 hrs to reach, but once u reach there, all your tiredness disappears....there are plenty of hotels and home stays there.

Kushalanagar is enroute Coorg - Route via Srirangapatna/Mysore is great - And a scenic route too.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Harangi Dam, Kaveri Nisargadhama, Dubare, Golden Temple, Buddhist Monastery are nearby ones.

Activities & things to do: Tibetian Monastery is a good place to visit - below 10kms. Madikeri is about an hour and half drive

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Route via Srirangapatna/Mysore is great - this is on the way to Madikeri.

"Coorg-A Must visit Destination"

  • Posted Jul 8, 2011
Coorg. We have fallen in love with this place.
We two of us make it a point to visit Coorg on Our Anniversary and this ritual is on from past four years..
Reasons to visit/Holiday at Coorg
1.Non Commercial Destination..Market is just a single lane and inspite of being the biggest exporter of cardamom and coffee u just dont find this area indulging in commercialising any of these products. You just have one shop which sells coffee
2.Goods Connection from Mangalore as well as Bangalore via Mysore.
The roads are awesome..4 yrs down the line last 30 kms to Madikeri was pain and use to take 1 hour but now from Banaglore-Madikeri(Coorg) has excellent roads and from Mysore to Madekeri the scenary is awesome...Its lush green and fills you with the joy of being with nature .
3.Round the year comfortable climate..
My point of view go in rains...its simply so beautiful at the rainy seasons
4.Sighseeing in case u feel like giving an errort to yrself and for kids..there is a Buddhist colony and establishment..Golden temple is awesome..Dubare camp, Raja's Seat.
5.Its a destination to calm your nerves and helps you settle down at ease with the calming and joyful nature around

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Food:Athithi Restaurant ..Small time joint but awesome food
Sighseeing:Dubare camp,Golden Temple,Raja\'s Seat,KAvery origin and various tracking places
Shopping:Limited to soveniour shops at resorts and a couple of shoups in the main city

Activities & things to do: Ease out,Enjoy the nature..
Go for coffee estate walks,Bird watching walks,Dubare camp,Water Rafting,Tracking and lot of coffee sipping..

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Travel Tips..:
Travel Light and carry warm clothes ..
If you are travelling from Bangalore rather then going from Mysore take the BYpass after Srirangapatnam on your Right ..This route is the same route to Brindavan Garden and Royal Orchid Resorts.
