"Most visited beach in Bengal"

  • 5.0/7
  • Posted Feb 18, 2018
This place in Midnapore is the most visited one throughout the year. This place remains congested in any holiday season be out the summers, winters or the pujas. A variety of accommodation is available here from expensive luxury hotels to budget hotels. Do not forget to go around the beach filled with trees to enjoy thoroughly.

Very beautiful place to be in a weekend with family or friends. Beach is now neatly surrounded by around path. One can enjoy cool breeze during evening time and participate in various water game during day time. There are some small vendors offering beautiful showpiece at very reasonable price.

"Silent Beach"

  • 6.0/7
  • Posted Nov 19, 2017
Digha is a famous sea beach in West Bengal. Is a relaxing weekend destination. If you are travelling with your Girlfriend you will feel safe here as maximum hotels allows couple entry even if they are not married. The beaches are rocky with a touch of sand. Digha is divided into two parts old Digha and New Digha .. The beaches are Bath friendly.
Digha flag station is the nearest station. Digha is well connected by rail and road from Kolkata. Buses ply from Howrah, Dharmatala, Esplanade, Dunlop and many other places all around Kolkata. There is no air connectivity in Digha. Nearest airport is Kolkata.
Hotels are relatively cheap in Old Digha as compared to New Digha. You should try the local Thali food for lunch. Also you should try the local fish kababs during night, which are sold near beach.
Bishwa Bangla Park us also a major place if attraction at old Digha ...
3 days stay will be enough to go round Digha.

"Awesome experience but bit crowded!"

  • Posted Oct 25, 2017
Beach is very good but a bit over crowded. Authorities should look into maintenance and cleanliness.
Must watch: sunrise & sunset. Must eat: various fried fish.

"Mesmerizing sea"

  • Posted Oct 14, 2017
It is one of the best economical Weekend Gateway for a Bong. I had planned a weekend
Trip with one of my colleagues on 6th May this year. We booked tickets on RedBus. In, took Volvo Bus from Dharmatola and reached Old Digha Bus Stop within 3 hours.
The first view of the beach is mesmerizing, some were busy in having sea-bath, some were shopping from the beach side vendors and some were just enjoying the breeze of the seashore.
One could get beautiful conch-shell jewelries, sankha, kids -toys from the beachside vendors.
The New Digha beach is about a km from Old Digha beach, it is a bit cleaner. One can hire a bike from New Digha beach and visit other nearby sea-beaches like Talsari, Mohona, and a beach full of red crabs.
If you pay a bit more to the bike owner he would allow through in Orissa border where there is Baba Bhusandeshwar Mandir having largest Shiva Linga in Asia.
There is a park named Amravati park in Old Digha, a beautiful place to spent an evening full of shops displaying jewelries, kidstoys, home decor and many more.
But the hygiene of the place made me a little sad.
The street side food leftovers, coffee cups on beaches questions our responsibility as a traveler.
The crowd was creating a bit chaos on markets and beaches.
But keeping aside the hygiene part and disturbance made by some travelers it is an wonderful place to make an weekend exciting within budget.
One could easily plan a 2 night stay within 5k.
Best time to Visit is March - May before the arrival of Monsoon as one could enjoy the roaring waves in beach and have seaside fun.
