"Best family outing place in Hyderabad"

  • 6.0/7
  • Posted Mar 28, 2017
Visited with complete family when our sisters family visited us. This happens to be the best outing place for a family in Hyderabad. You can take cooked food there and have a family lunch in garden areas. The flora and fauna is of very large variety in the zoo. Almost all of the major animal attractions are present in the zoo. Te kids loved a lot!! My niece took snaps and collected the info given about each animal on the boards there.

However its a very large zoo and you are bound to be tired. Hence plan accordingly, reach there early so that you can take some breaks for rest in between your trip in the zoo. There are golf-cart type vehicles available on payment but you wont have freedom to stop for more time at any places as it seems to be time-bound.

And if you are a wildlife lover, do remember to take a good camera for some excellent snaps. Smartphone camera's won't do justice here :)

"Wonderful place to enrich your body and mind"

The locals refer it to as "Zoo Park" and not "Nehru Zoological park". If you are new to Hyderabad, the locals may direct you to Nehru Gardens which is different from the Nehru Zoological park.

If you wish to enjoy the park in one hour you have the liberty of enjoying the ride on the battery operated cars. The duration of the ride is 40 minutes and the cost is Rs. 50 per adult. Apart from it you also could enjoy train rides, boating and safaris. For the safaris you need to walk more than 30 minutes from the entry gate. Else you could cycle to the safari spots.

There are varied species of animals/birds and beautiful gardens which makes it interesting especially for children. It is less crowded during weekdays. Since the park is colder it is advisable to carry warm clothes for infants.

The only concern is the maintenance of the wash rooms (Rs. 4 per adult) and the quality of food available inside. It is better if you visit the park after eating food.

Plastic is strictly prohibited however you could deposit the same in the cloakroom situated just outside the main gate.

It is one of the must visit places in Hyderabad especially if you have children or if you are a nature lover.

"Can be maintained much better"

  • 4.0/7

Nehru Zoo is one of the famous places in Hyderabad.

Most of the people visiting Hyderabad generally visit this place too.

I will try to give an overall review:

Location:

This place is located on the main road and easy to locate.

Parking:

They have a good parking facility.

Entry:

Entry Ticket is 40/- per person.

20/- for still camera.

100/- for Video Camera.

Bags:

Bags(Backpacks/Other Bags) and plastic covers are not allowed inside.

Only hand bags are allowed.

There is a cloak room just near the entrance where you can keep the bags.

Inside the Zoo:

There is a kids play area.

Train Ride

Battery car rides around the zoo - this will be generally crowded on weekends.

Boating - Boating facility is not well maintained. Its much below average.

Also you have a walk a lot of distance to reach the boating place.

Avoid boating and rather try boating @ Lumbini Park.

There is a Food Court but the items are very limited and the taste is also average.

But since there are no other options people buy food here.

Overall The zoo is also averagely maintained.

It can be improved in many ways.

Improvement needed:

1. Water around the animal shelters can be cleaned.

2. Restaurant can be improved.

3. Boating can be improved by increasing the number of boats and good quality ones.

""Very Attractive Tourist Spot In Hyderabad""

  • 7.0/7

Nehru Zoological Park is a very attractive tourist spot in Hyderabad and most probably it is the largest zoo of India. The zoo spread over an area of approx. 380 acres & it's maintained by forest department of Telangana Govt. It's located at a distance of 19 km from Madhapur. Booked a cab to visit the zoo and it took near about 45 minutes to reach the zoo from Madhapur, Hi-tech city. The entry fee is Rs. 30/-per adult & Rs. 20/- for still camera. Had to deposit all carry bag & plastic bag to the counter. Only they allowed our camera along with us. A variety of wild life have found here. All kind of animals are kept in surroundings similar to their natural habitat. Mini train ride & children park in the zoo keep children entertained throughout the day. One good option is there that is battery operated vehicle. Visitors can ride to make around the park. Another option is bicycling. One can hire bicycle @ 20/- to make a round the zoo. Beautiful place for amusement and we enjoyed the full day.
