"Puri is my all time favourite place to visit"

  • Posted Oct 24, 2017
My experience of visiting Puri is excellent. Local people of Puri is excellent, they are extremely helpful, very well behaved. While visiting Puri travellers must carry proper dress to take sea Bath or else it becomes a bit risky. Travellers must carry some emergency medicines as all the medicines are not easily available there.

"Puri can offer multiple experiences"

  • 5.0/7
  • Posted Oct 24, 2017
Puri can offer diverse experiences and meant for a perfect family outing. It has its Religious value as Jagannath Temple is 1 of 4 dhams in Hindu Mythology. Apart from Pilgrimage, Puri offers one of the safest and cleaner beaches of Bay of Bengal, although there are not much adventure activities you can find on beach as you get in Goa, yet to enjoy sea Puri offers cleaner beaches. Puri also offers a Heritage holidays with nearby historic locations like Konark and Bhubaneshwar.
Inside Puri, you must visit Jagannath Temple, which is 1 of 4 dhams as per Hindu Mythology. Puri/Golden Beach, Swargadwar Beach are long straight clean beaches, and offers a sea thrill. Nearby Puri, 35 km is Konark Sun temple, which is a world heritage site. Do not forget to take a guide there. Konark Beach and Ramchandi temple near Sangam site are other good places to visit near Konark Sun temple.
Nearby Puri, 60 km is Bhubaneshwar City, which is a capital of state Orissa. Lingaraj Temple is the oldest and must visit. These 3 (Lingraj, Jagannath, Sun) temples are called Golden Triangle of Orissa's sculpture history and are more than 800 years old. Other famous temples of bhubaneswar are Raja Rani temple, ISCON temple etc. 60 km is Satpada, which offers the biggest brasic water lake of India, Chilika lake. Chilika lake offers boat rides. You can see dolphins and amazing views during boating in Chilika. Best places to eat are Marwadi restaurants near Jagannath Temple, Balaji Bhojanalaya is one of the best in them. You can take beach side hotels / resorts to get the best sea-views of sunrise and sun sets. Sterling Resort Puri offers amazing sea view rooms and remote beach.
Puri, Konark and Bhubaneshwar are famous for temples. So most of the time spent on visiting temples, watching sculptures and heritage of these temples. Beaches also offered relaxing time with family.
Best time to visit Puri is late October to January end. Best to take rented / self drive vehicle to visit nearby places. OLA, UBER, Zoomcar, Myles do not ply in Puri. Only way to commute here is Rickshaws which can be pretty expensive and painful. Better to take zoomcar / Miles from Bhubaneshwar. Having booked a good sea view resort can really pump up the stay in Puri. Absolutely no issues with safety during travelling by road in late hours. Roads are in very good condition. Must have many pairs of clothes, as due to humidity you will get wet soon. And an umbrella.

"Puri. The place where the God lives."

  • Posted Oct 20, 2017
1st day we enjoyed the seaside .. Took Bath and completed shopping from some shops beside the sea.
2nd day we offered prayer to Lord Jagannath at Jagannath temple. Lord Jagannath, a form of Lord Visnu. There has so many sub temples around the main temple. We ate vog prosad also.
3Rd day we have visited some places nearby Puri. Like Nandan kanan zoo, Konark temple, Udaygiri/khandagiri caves and many more.
There has many hotels, lodge, holiday home. People can cook their own food in holiday home. There has a big market of vegetables and fish and meat. Hotel, lodge or holiday home provides all things as people need. There also has medicine shops.
