"A nicely maintained garden"

This is well maintained as a historical park or garden. It has a number of fountains and lawns to click. Not really a huge place but worth a visit in the evening. A very calm and quite place to move around. Flower gardens are well taken care of.

"Good place to relax"

  • 5.0/7

A small hand crafted garden provides a good place to sit and enjoy the greenery with the sound of water. Its nothing outstanding if you have been to some of the huge gardens that India has.
But overall a decent place.

"A place that reminds you of royal Luxry"

  • 3.5/7

Good place to have some leisure time. It reminds you of the time where the Rani (Queen) had her own park /abode. There is a good museum if your are a history lover. The park behind it well maintained and gives you opportunity to take some good shots on your camera.

Saheliyon Ki Bari is famous for its lush green lawns, marble art and fountains. Located on the banks of Fateh Sagar Lake, the garden was built in the 18th century by Maharana Sangram Singh for the royal ladies.

Legend states that the garden was designed by the king himself, after which he presented it to his queen. To offer a place of recreation to all the 48 maids, who had accompanied the queen after her marriage, this garden was made.

Apart from fountains in its four water pools, chiselled kiosks and marble elephants, the garden is also embellished with a lotus pool and bird-fountains. Green lawns, flowerbeds and marble pavilions are the highlights of the garden. Built by Maharana Bhopal Singh, a pavilion of rain fountains was made in order to form an illusion of rain dancing in cadence with dancing maids.

From England, these fountains were imported. Four black marbled kiosks are visible at the corners of the main reservoir. In its centre, one white marbled kiosk is located. The fountains are in the form of sculpted birds, on the top of kiosks. These birds spurt water from their beaks producing the rain effect. A huge collection of royal households is put on display in the museum located within the garden complex.

Literally meaning 'Garden of the Maids of Honour', it has numerous fountains located strategically in the four scenic pools. With over 100 varieties, a rose garden greets visitors. The garden's lotus pools and fountains have been placed at a lower level than the waters of Fateh Sagar. This also ensures that they are gravity-fed.

On the left of the central square, the 'Savan-Bhado' fountain is present. Daintily sculptured chhatris (pavilions) of soft black stone adorn the pond on the west. These sculptured chhatris are surrounded on all sides by fountains.
