Jaisalmer Experience: The sonar killa at jaisalmer ,made famous by the satyajit ray movie by the same name is majestic,regal,breath taking and appears to be made of gold!
But on going inside it, one feels sad,anguished and angry at the way things are.the fact that it is the only fort still inhabited by people could have been used to its advantage.instead, there is decay,disrepair and waste.
The hundreds of families living inside the fort with no sewage system in place have caused the whole fort to stink .
It is the right of the people living there to continue to do so but it is also the duty of the govt. and the residents to make sure the fort is well looked after.
There can't be another fort lie this one .we all have to do something to protect the fort with the help of the people living inside it.
One has to see the fort to believe the grandeur of the fort.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: The food at hotel rang mahal was fantastic.we ordered room service and the food was piping hot at 11.30 in the night!
Wonderfull mutton dishes and unusual veg fare, too.
Activities & things to do: Sightseeing ,shopping for jutties leather bags inside the fort.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: We travelled very comfortably in a swift dezire from Jodhpur to Jaisalmer and back to jodhpur.just shop for expensive things at govt shops so that you are not cheated but for juties,turbans,bags any shop will do.
