Sringeri Experience: We traveled by road from Horanadu after worshiping Annapoorna Devi to Sringeri reaching there by about 1115 hrs on 19.11.2011. After getting two double rooms (Rs, 300/- each) in the new Devasthanam building just opposite the main gate of Sharadamba temple, we got darshan of HH Jagatguru Sankaracharya by 1200 noon. The place is serene and peaceful. Then went around the temple and had good darshan of all deities. Bathing is prohibited in the Tungabhadra rive located between the temple complex and Jagadguru's ashram. Devotees feed the fish in the river with puffed Rice. Again in the evening we had attended Aarthi of Sharadamba amma.The accommodation is quite spacious and furnished. The lift and hot water facility is not operational.Sringeri was very cold and the flannel blanket was not sufficient to keep us warm.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: We had Lunch and Dinner - Annaprasadam provided at the temple. We had some snacks & Tea at Hotel Guruprasad near the temple.
Activities & things to do: There is an outlet for the publications of Sringeri Temple & Mutt. There are shops selling merchandise for pilgrims.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: The road from Horanadu to Sringeri,(about 80 KM) is a mountainous and bumpy stretch with certain stretches very badly affected by monsoon and not repaired. It can also be reached from Udupi. Better to travel during daytime.
