New Delhi Experience: Outsiders used to call Delhi a village until recently. They were not far wrong. Well, now that the city has grown very large they dare not call it so. However, they missed out one point. Delhi wallahs do not consider it as an insult. In fact, they like it when their city is compared to a village. They feel Delhi is the greenest city in the country with the widest roads and the priviledge to drive at a speed over 100 kilo meters per hour at many places. This makes Delhi a wonderfully enjoyable village where people like their home, family and shun the so-called night life without any hesitation.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Delhi is full of the Mughlai and Punjabi kind of food. Chicken is everywhere; it is even omni-present in Chinese cuisine. Sea food is not that good but it is available everywhere. This could be owing to the distance from the sea. Vegetarian food is aplenty. South Indian food appears in pockets and ridges. Most of it has a north Indian slant as is expected. Very little mutton is available anywhere in the whole city. Other regional cuisine is available but you have to look for it. The next most common cuisine is continental including a lot of Italian. Delhi is good on food and kind to the foodie. However, good food is expensive in this city.
Delhi offers many opportunities for shopping. The most common being Lajpat Nagar, Sarojini Nagar, Karol Bagh, Tilak Nagar, Kotla and Malviya Nagar. Besides these middle class markets there are many upmarket places too.
Delhi is the site for many Mughal and Turkish monuments. Feast your sense of history.
Activities & things to do: Delhi wallahs don't like to do anything. They like to spend time with their families and rest at home. Otherwise, they are roaming around in air-conditioned malls which are more than 100 in number.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Delhi is the centre of the universe, silly. Just ask your neighbour
