"The Party Place- Panjim"

  • 7.0/7
  • Posted Jan 4, 2016
This city is hub of Goa. For all those wanting to try their luck at casino should visit cruise ship docked at Panjim in the Mandovi river. This city has some of the finest hotels such as Fidalgo, Welcome Heritage Inn, Rajdhani, Arcadia, Sunrise and Keni. Apart from the staple Goan delicacies, this place also has many Chinese, Punjabi and pure veg restaurants. Ritz, one of the most famous restaurant in Panjim serves quality food and is not at all costly. Miramar beach lies just 10mins from Panjim city. To enjoy traditional dances, one can visit Santa Monica cruise which allows you to enjoy traditional Goan folk dances with drinks and food.

It has a great restaurants, the beach is also pretty clean. The ambience and environment is great. Lots of foreigners around, the shopping market is also huge and has lots of variety. The place also has lots of options for non-veg food lovers. Alcohol was available at cheap price.

"Centre of Goa, boat cruise & other ship activities"

  • 5.5/7
  • Posted Dec 16, 2015
Panjim is a centre of Goa, with all the boat cruises activities here. From here you can go to South and North Goa and depending on the place you like you can choose your next course of action. Like I prefer to spend sometime in south of Goa. Panaji's particularly beautiful in night with light band sound on the boats on the Mandovi River. Nice place to stay and enjoy in Goa, you also get bikes and cars on rent in Panjim.

Panji are famous for 'kaju', casino, river, Mandovi Beaches, old market, and old Portugal building of government offices. There are more beautiful garden and beaches of local area. We can also see old cultural people at there. When we go to Goa its a must see place.

"A small village turned to the modern city"

  • 7.0/7
  • Posted Dec 13, 2015
One of India's smallest and most relaxed state capitals, Panaji crowds around the peninsula overlooking the broad Mandovi River, where cruise boats and floating casinos ply the waters, casting neon reflections in the night. Panaji is Goa's largest city, ahead of Margao and Vasco da Gama. Panaji means 'land that never floods' It has sloping land, concrete buildings with balconies, churches, and a riverside promenade. There are avenues lined with Gulmohar, acacia and other trees. Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church is located overlooking the main square. Colourful villas, cobbled streets and interesting buildings give Panaji a Portuguese ambiance. Panaji is derived from the Panjakhali, as inscribed on a copper plate of Kadamba Period's King Tribhuvanmalla. A small village on the river front turned to the Modern City. It has a tropical monsoon climate, hot in summer and winters are quite moderate. The heart of the city is the Church Square or Municipal Garden with the Portuguese Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Other tourist attractions include the old and rebuilt Adilshahi Palace, dating from the sixteenth century, the Institute Menezes Braganza, the Mahalaxmi Temple, the Jama Masjid Mosque, the Chapel of St. Sebastian and the Fontainhas are which is considered to be the old Latin Quarte's as well as the nearby beach of Miramar. Hanuman Mandir at Mal on the hill top and its annual fest. Panaji hosted the relics of Saint John Bosco. The carnival celebrations in February include a colourful parade on the streets. This is followed by the Holi. The Narkr parade on the night before Diwali in the city is very colourful. Well-known places in Panaji are the 18th June Road, a busy thoroughfare in the heart of the town and a shopping area for tourists and locals, Mala area and the Kala Academy built by architect Charles Correa, where Goa showcases its art and culture. Dona Paula is the meeting point for two of Goa's famous rivers, Zuari and Mandovi. Panjim is a place for walking, enjoying the peace of an afternoon siesta, eating well and meeting real Goans. It's also a place to catch a movie, a cultural show or to take the kids to the planetarium. It has widely ranged Hotels, suitable for all budgets. A place where things are aromatic and peoples they regard the visitors and help.
