"Darshan at Tiruamala Tirupati Balaje Temple"

  • 6.0/7
  • Posted Jan 10, 2012
Tirumala Balaji Devasthanam is the worlds most popular and India’s important pilgrimage center and also most visited place of worship in the world. The temple itself is no less than a wonder; it is a magnificent epitome of God's creation. Crores of people visit this Paradise on earth. Tirumala Venkateswara Temple is a famous Hindu Temple of Lord Balaji located in the Seven hills town Tirumala, Andhra Pradesh, India

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Loved the banana leaf served south Indian lunch at Mayura hotel at Tirupati Town. Highly recommended for vegetarians. (when visiting temple you will be a vegetarian anyways).

Activities & things to do: Dont miss Padmavathi Temple, Tiruchanur, Kanipakkam and Kalahastri if you have time.
Kalahastri temple is open 24/7.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Tirupati and Chennai Domestic Airport are the closest from Tirupati Town. Flights from Pune, Kolkatta, New Delhi, Mumbai etc are cheaper to Chennai than Tirupati Airport.

Hire a car from Chennai
Tata Indica @ Rs.3650/- for One Night and Two Days
Toyota Innova @ Rs.6610/- for One Night and Two Days

It s very neatly maintained even though it s a very crowded place all round the year

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: You get real spicy Andra food, which is mouth watering, My favorite restaurant would be woodside which is not to be missed for pongal specially & bhimas residency restaurant .

Activities & things to do: There are many other holy places that can be visited near by during your visit to tirupati.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: I would prefer car to travel, but be careful with your luggage.

"lord balaji darshan on 29 may 2010"

  • 6.0/7

Lord Balaji is great..fulfills everyone's every wish..everyone should have darshan at tirumala at least once..lifetime experience..large no. of devotees..,so try to avoid on saturday, sunday, school vacations

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Near bus stand (walking distance of 5 min), TTD prasadalam is present, (CRO office is also present here) have dosa at Rs 5, all foods at subsidised rates. Dont forget to enjoy milk there. We had food adjacent to bus stand only, open air type , very tasty and humble service. Have noodles or veg biryani at just Rs 30. You can try woodside restaurant near to temple, but dinner is available after 8 pm..at shopping complexes near the bus stand, great bargaining occurs, price reduction to min. 60-70 percent..nothing has fixed price.

Activities & things to do: Dont get involved in crowd at the time of darshan, only 10-15 seconds is available to see the god's murthi..huge crowd of devotees present..many peoples are uncultured, ill literate and go on pushing others to go ahead. Free darshan takes 10-12hrs, sudarshan 50Rs ticket takes 5-6 hrs. We took sheegra darshan Rs 300/person, took 3.5 hrs. Better you can go for Rs 500 ticket. When different lines mix up, then real problem starts, survival of the fittest occurs, took around 2 hrs from mixing point to darshan. Actually, we went on saturday afternoon, very heavy rush present..exit and entry for final darshan has single door, be cautious..very little number of security guards present compared to mob of devotees..you have to take care of yourself..2 laddoos for single seegra darshan ticket..additional laddoos Rs 25/laddoo. Laddoos are available outside the temple premises..ladoo is very tasty, made of pure ghee, kaju, and of big size..lastly keep remembering Lord Balaji, and he will take care of everything.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: The temple of Lord Balaji is in Tirumala, 22km from Tirupati railway station. From Tirupati railway station, jeep service is available at Rs 50/person. Bus service after every 15 min is available fare Rs 30/person..but you have to go to central bus stand from Tirupati railway station, for which auto costs 25 Rs, walking distance around 0.5km. We hired prepaid ambassador car for Rs 350. Best option is, if you have internet accomodation at TTD. Driver guides you to internet counter, get the room allotted after showing internet receipt and paying refundable deposit money of Rs 500, then he drops you in the allotted guest house. We stayed in KAUSTUB guest house. Very clean, spacious rooms, near (walking distance) to returning bus stand, also near to CRO office where you get the deposit money refunded. Once you vacate the room, free bus service is available that takes you to different temples within Tirumala. From guest house to temple, jeep service is available, takes minimum of 50 Rs. for a single trip.

It is one of most beautiful, clean, well managed pilgrimages in India. It is on top of hill with all facilities for devotees. There is rush of devotees but due to queue system and bands, darshan are very majestic.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Excellent food arrangement. On Tirumala, one can visit museum, flower garden and on the way down to Tirupati, one can visit deer park.

Activities & things to do: There are historic temples in Tirupati worth seeing. One can visit Sri Kalahasti (1.5 hours by car) and Sri Kanipakam (3 hours by car).

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: One can reach by air through Hyderabad, by train (station either Renigunta or Tirupati) from Mumbai, Chennai or by road from Chennai
