Srinagar Experience: Kashmir is a great place to visit. It has some beautiful natural sites, gardens, monuments etc.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: I didn't find food upto the mark.....and costly too. There are some great places to visit like gulmarg, phelgam, chandanwari etc. You will get ample shopping options . There are numerous shops to pick items of your choice.

Activities & things to do: Rafting, tracking .....and ofcourse boating in Dal lake...... and plenty of shopping for ladies!!

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Always start early and reach early.... I travelled by road. My first night stay was at Patnitop. The Hotels r expensive compared to the facilities.... better option is to stop at KUD that comes 4-5 km before patnitop.... you will get cheaper hotels.....if you reach at night they charge you more. Second day in travelling to srinagar.....third day to gulmarg......again mind you that you must start early to get tickets for GONDOLA ride....and better take tickets upto the last point ...that will be Rs 800 per person. fourth day to phelgam and chandanwari...... on the way you can enjoy rafting....fifth and sixth day can be kept for srinagar...dal lake....gardens...forts and monuments and shopping ofcourse...... Avoid taking shortcuts.....keep sufficient fuel in ur car.....Ask for guidance and help from police personnels ....they are really friendly and helpful.... Happy Touring.
