One can drive for 5kms from the ground level on the Hilly Trek up to the base camp 'Maachi'. After reaching Maachi, one has a choice to take a 6 min ride in 'Udan Khatola' or can enjoy a trek of one hour to reach 'Dudhia Talav'. From Dudhia Talav, we have to climb almost 80 to 100 steps to reach the Temple.
Mahakali Temple at Top of the Pavagadh, is among the 51 Shakti Pith in India and second in Gujarat besides Gabbar near Ambaji.
We rode through the Cable Car. It takes only 6 Mins to reach at top and cost Rs.87/- per head for to & fro journey. During journey in Cable Car you can watch a beautiful scenery all across the area. A lush green land, beautiful mountains, lots of water bodies etc.
It is a wonderful place to spend a day where you can pay Darshan also and you can breathe fresh air while trekking to the top also. I am sure this will boost your soul for progressing all individuals in their busy, stressful and polluted life .
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: There is nothing much to see at Pavagadh other than the temple, but one can visit Champaner at the base of Pavagadh, which is a historical place since the Moughal's, one can visit Fort, Tomb,Masjid etc. at Champaner.
At Pavagadh, one can enjoy all Gujarati Farasan like Khaman,Fafda,Batakavada,Bataka Poha etc. At the base of the Cable Car Unit at Maachi, one beautifull Food Point is available, they serve SouthIndian & Chinese dishes along with Sev Usal,Samosa,Sandwich and all kind of refreshments.
One can enjoy shopping at Pavagadh by shopping religious items mostly. There are very few shops available at the top that sell handicrafts made locally.
Activities & things to do: This is a very good one day trip at the Hill, Trekking and riding in Udan Khatola are the only activities at Pavagadh. One can enjoy their hobby of photography also.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: You can visit Pavagadh throughout out the year, but the best time to visit is after monsoon ie. after August.
Pavagadh is well connected by roads from all major cities of Gujarat. Nearest Railway station is Champaner, which falls on Vadodara -Ratlam- Delhi route. Nearest Domestic Airport is Vadodara and International Airport is at Ahmedabad.
