One of the best wildlife sanctuary in India!

Sasan Gir though a small town near Junagadh, Saurashtra, Gujarat, is a jungle in itself. it is the only place in the world to find Asiatic Lions in the wild. Apart from lions you can find leopards, hyena , dear, monkeys and many more wild animals and birds. we went in Jan end Feb and the climate was amazing, pleasant in day and cold in night. We went in a group of friends with our families and also had kids along.

Though it has a wildlife reserved sanctuary which is beautifully maintained by the team. you can easily spot wild animals outside the sanctuary. We had spotted a leopard and a hyena near to our resort. The sanctuary is very safe to go even with kids. The park requires a pre approval from government authority on-line as they only approve 90 permits for the day. you do not get the permit at the park.
You can either opt for open Gypsy or your own vehicle , in either way there will be a guide/ Security person along with you . inside the park we saw a group of lions at one spot and even cubs at another.

Overall I enjoyed a lot and would go there again to meet the mighty lions.

Nature lovers will love this place

We had visited in the month of January when the climate was chilling. It was a superb experience. You will require a permit for entering Gir Forest, which can be done online only. The safari would be in an open jeep. (Wow! ). The chances of seeing Lions are maximum during morning safari 6. 00 am to 9. 00 am as there is no sun or else choose a last time slot. One can see Lion in an open space. This experience itself is amazing where there are no cages. There are other animals also such as spotted deers called as Nilgai, Sambar Deers, Peacocks, Peahen, etc. The sight of dancing peacocks during a chilled morning is too awesome. It was so chilled that our fists were frozen.

You can also visit Devaliya Park which a fenced area of few kilometers and there you can see many Lions, Leopards, Deers, etc. But the safari is not as enjoyable as Gir Safari because:
1) It's in a closed bus and not an open jeep.
2) The animals cannot be seen roaming around naturally in an open space since, it is a fenced area.

Both places should be visited. We also visited Diu along with Sasan Gir. Many beaches and many water sports activities. We had stayed in Lords Resorts. Recommended to all.
