"Savali" new review

Shriwardhan Experience: It was good with good scenery & good accommodation. The people at the resort are well behaved & ready to help round the clock.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Food is very good with good quantity & quality. sea food is awesome. There are many temples surrounding the area & the beach at shrivardhan is very good & clean. No fear of drowning even kids can enjoy the place very well as the sea is not deep. There is not much to shop in this place. This place is good for spending peaceful time & enjoying at beach with some good food.
Activities & things to do: Visiting temples & enjoying the beach & can play out door & indoor games.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: This place can be reached via satara, mahabaleshwar, pratpgadh, mangaon, morba, masla,s hrivardhan, this route has good scenery & ghat section. from start to mahabaleshwar the roads are narrow & elevated with good scenery & from mahabaleshwar till mangaon the road is narrow & drives in slope, from mangoan till shrivardhan the road is very worst with lots of steep bends & curves & the road condition is horrible. you can also try the road from mumbai to mangaoan via pen/panvel & then to mangaoan, masla, divyagar to shrivardhan, this road is good compared the earlier one but will find some bad roads & the kms will be about 30kms extra then compared to earlier road. Another road is via pune via tamini ghat, its with very good scenery & roads & ghat is dangerous with very narrow roads & have to have vigil always on roads. The road is very bad. At Masla you can shop for dry fishes which is good market for dry fishes like prawns(soda) & other stuffs. The market is very good with varieties.

"Not as expected"

Shriwardhan Experience: The beach was below expectations. After being to Kashid and Alibaug, i thought this might be another beautiful beach on western Maharashtra. But the beach had rocks on the shoreline. It was dirty, not at all clean. And the crowd was basically confined at the entrance. In the faraway stretches it looked beautiful but didnt look safe for a couple. Eaveteasers made it impossible to explore the whole beach..
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Food was good..especially sea food..
Activities & things to do: You can visit the nearby temples and caves
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: The official MSRTC website says that ST buses take 4 hours from Mumbai to Shriwardhan. But actually it takes a good 6 hours to reach the bus stop. That too without traffic. Add traffic and it will take around 7-8 hours (our return journey was more than 7 hours). If you are planning to travel by ST bus please book your tickets in advance, bcoz its a really painful experience to travel at the back for 6-7 hours.

"My Promotion Party"

Shriwardhan Experience: I did not travel to Kashid but been to Shrivardhan and Harihareshwar. We stayed at Shiv Shanti Holiday Inn at Shrivardhan on 4th & 5th Feb 2012. The experience was fantastic however due to long travelling (From Dombivli to Shrivardhan) we hardly get time to enjoy at Beach. The beach was awesome with almost clean water and surrounded area. Also the hotel was at good location and rooms were spacious & clean .
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Although Food was not in good quantity (being Thali and not unlimited), taste was definitely great. We enjoyed Seafood a lot…... One can get fresh Seafood in local market.
Activities & things to do: Enjoying on Beach is the best activity for this location.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: One should have atleaset 3 days to enjoy, keep enough clothes so you can go inot beach as many times as you can.

"shriwardhan - diveagar trip"

Shriwardhan Experience: Shriwardhan is a small quiet & calm town. People are good. The beach is good. Water is clear. But small traces of recent oil spill could be seen on the sand. But not so bad at all.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: For fish lovers, there is a fish market in Shriwardhan where one has to bargain. Apart from the beach, you could go to Hariheshwar or Diveagar. The road from Shrivardhan to Diveagar is simply great. Its a full sea side road. With crystal clear water. The Suvarnaganesh temple at Diveagar is a small yet calm & quiet place to offer one's prayers. In Diveagar, near dolphin resort, there is one 'Suvarnaganesh Khanaval' (mess). The fish here is simply awesome. Just mouth watering. The beach of Diveagar is also good.
Activities & things to do: There are horse rides at both Shrivardhan & Diveagar beach. Also u could go for beach volleyball. or simply relax having cocunut water or chaupati items(Shrivardhan beach).
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: From Pune after crossing Tamhini Ghat, go towards Nizampur - Mangaon - Morba - Mhasala - Shrivardhan. Its a 3-4 hour drive. Road is in quite good condition. Enjoy the scenic beauty around & you wont feel the distance long at all.

"Good Spot for Weekend in KONKAN !!!!!!"

Shriwardhan Experience: It is nice place to visit specially in summer. So that we have lots of Mangoes, Cashew, Jack fruit etc. Environment around here gives us mental satisfaction, total relaxation. Should visit atleast once in 2 yrs.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Food i.e. specially FISH curry, FISH fry .....uuummmhh. Other than fish we have have veg thali but only in some selected hotels eg - KALASAGAR in Narayan peth etc. Sight Seeing like Harihareshwar, Dive Agar, BaghMandla. All these destination are not far then 16 km from shriwardhan. Shopping like Dry Fish in varieties, Cashew, Pickles etc.
Activities & things to do: What will you do.....!!!!! Can N-joy morning walk at Sea shore, Jogging, roaming..it is real fun walking bare footed at sea shore. Just try it...doing in MUMBAI & the same in Shriwardhan is like poles apart. You can have a boat ride in the evening from Jivana Bandar (Near to Shrivardhan Beach).
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: From Pune - Can go on bike or any vehicle. It takes around 4-5 hrs to reach to shriwardhan. But by BUS it takes around 6 hrs..uufffff so hectic it is !!!! Remember not to travel after 7:00 pm in TAMHANI GHAT..it is dangerous upto some extent. Avoid it !!! Can start your journey early morning. I had gone on my Passion Plus. I started around 4:30 pm & reached around 9:00 pm. in shrivardhan. It was really terrific experience. From Mumbai you have lots of choices..by bus, by private vehicle. U dnt hv to wait for long time for another bus. You can go via Mangaon - Mhasale - Shrivardhan. Do not drink while driving/riding. Have a safe and happy journey!!!

"Weekend Visit to Shriwardhan"

Shriwardhan Experience: Shrivardhan is a quiet weekend location in Konkan. It is 170 Kms from Pune. Driving time 4 hrs.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Food is reasonable. Shopping - Nil. The attraction is the beach. In a stretch of 2 kms, there were about 15 people only. At night it is deserted.
Activities & things to do: Stayed at a small resort called Niwant Sagar. Close to the beach. The site is beutiful for relaxing. The rooms need improvement. The location however makes up for that. Food and staff were caring.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Pune-Mulshi-Tamhane Ghat- Nizampur-Mahasle-Shriwardhan. Not much of population enroute. Carry own water, a few steep stretches are there.

"Pristine Beach at Dive Agar , off Mangaon, Maharashtra"

Shriwardhan Experience: It was fantastic ! Its unspoilt and worth visiting the beach, its like Colva but without a soul, all yours, the car goes right upto the beach front, safe, very safe.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Forget shopping, just chill on the beach, no sight seeing, mother nature everywhere at her best
Activities & things to do: Enjoy on the beach, its Dive Agar
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Mumbai to Mangaon on NH17(Goa Highway), take a right from Mangaon Bazar, ask anyone for Dive Agar Highway or Srivardhan/harihareshwar, and you are there after crossing the Ghat, the roads are good and natural beauty at its best !

"Diveagar beach - (avoid Travel Hungama)"

Shriwardhan Experience: We had been to Diveagar from 1st May to 3rd May. We stayed at the MTDC Exotica beach resort . I will come to the review of the place which was fantastic later. Let’s deal first with Travel Hungama. I booked the MTDC resort called Exotica Beach Resort in Diveagar through a Mumbai based Agent called Travel Hungama. It was the worst decision of the tour.
Food, sight-seeing and shopping: 1. Suhas Bapat’s eatery: This is a truly amazing place with awesome food. You will be served authentic maharastrian food with Modak. The contact number is: 09423837967, 09271127337. you need to call in the morning and confirm your order. Ad-hoc visits will leave you disappointed, cos often the food is cooked as per orders and there is no surplus as good food never goes waste ;) 2. Suvarnaganesh Khanaval by Anant Parker: Contact no: 952147 – 225045. Very near to Pinakin Hotel and Ambience cottages (by walk 10 min): Amazing non-veg food. The pomfret served was the best we had in long long time. The rate for a non veg thali is 150/- which includes a decent sized pomfret fry.
Activities & things to do: 1. The virgin beach: The best thing to do in Diveagar is nothing. Just visit the virgin beach and do nothing else. 2. Murud-Janjira Fort: Another must see location is the Murud-Janjira fort. Note: Please hire a local guide( charges 15/- if you go in a group)..If you are a couple, you can bargain for 120/-…there is a lot of historic information which you rather have for relevance, than aimlessly roaming around the fort. To visit Murud Janjira you should be leaving Diveagar early at 8.00 and go to a town called Dighi (takes 45 minutes) and take the ferry boat at 9.15 am to go to the fort. 3. Golden Ganesha temple: And of course visit the Golden Ganesha temple. It is nerve wracking experience to see the Golden bust of Ganesha displayed in the temple .It was found buried in the ground in a 900- year old chest trunk in a wadi nearby. Don't forget to go to the wadi ( prakat sthan) and meet the lady (in seventies) who actually discovered the golden ganesha.
Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Pune to Diveagar - 156 km (via Mhasala). Approx time: 4.5 hours (Route - Pune - Paud - Mulshi - Mangaon via Tamhini Ghat (turn left from the Highway and later right from the Main Market) - Sai-Morba Ghat - Mhasala (before S. T. stand turn right from main road) - Vadavali phata - Borli - Diveagar)I would say the roads were newly laid so we were lucky. And yes, as he said the view throughout was refreshing and makes the 4.5 hours journey enjoyable. The only con about the journey is lack of good places to eat. So make sure to pack some sandwiches or chips on your way. Also, only IDEA and Reliance have some kind of a network, so inform your family not to get worried if you are not reachable.
