Simlipal Experience: If you are thinking to see lot of animals then it is a wrong choice as govt have closed all interior points to view animals. not even much variation in flora and fauna. but overall an average experience

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: balasore station to simlipal is about 5 hrs journey. so plan accordingly. cars are available near station for rent but u need to negotiate the rate.

Simlipal Experience: Visited Simlipal Forest during December 2011 with family, frustrated jungle safari covering 160 kms to and fro journey with zig-zaj muddy and dusty road, no sight of animals even at the core area of the forest, most of the forest habited by peoples on the safari rout and covered under various government welfare schemes, frequent disruption created by naxal movement ( may loose your precious days by not getting permit to enter the forest due to naxal movement), chances of seeing domesticated goat,cow,dog & buffalo inside the forest. I advise visit other places instead of Similipal.

Simlipal Experience: SIMILIPAL is in the district of Mayurbhanj of Orissa.Area of the district is about 10,000 squire kilometer, out of which 2700 squire kilometer about 27% area covered by world famous biosphere SIMILIPAL NATIONAL PARK. The SITAKUND REST HOUSE is a forest guest house situated at the foot step of SIMILIPAL NATIONAL PARK.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Mayurbhanj of Orissa is famous for puffed rice food item. The main attraction of the district is Similipal national park. Sitakund water fall is a beautiful water fall about 20 kilometer from Baripada situated at the footstep of Similipal.There is a tourist lodge namely SITAKUND REST HOUSE near by Sitakund water fall. The Rest house has two bed room with attached latrine & bath, one large hall for meeting & conference, one portico for enjoying fall view. The rest house suitable for accommodation, picnic,honeymoon, conference, meeting, marriage, movie shooting & wild life watching. Barehipani water fall is a another beautiful water fall about 70 kilometer distance from district head quarter Baripada. The water fall from hight about 650 feet hight in undulating movement . Joronda water fall is also a beautiful water fall inside Similipal in which water fall from hight about 250 feet hight and converted to frost.

Activities & things to do: More advertisement is necessary to attract tourist for visiting the nice places of the Similipal.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Nearest city is Bhubaneswar & Kokata. There are Always bus communication in every one hour from Bhubaneswar the capital of orissa to Baripada about 250 kilometer. A express train departure time is 5.45pm at Bhubaneswar & arrival time at Baripada is 10.15 pm except Saturday. There are 5 nos of buses comes regularly from Kolkata to Baripada abot 200 kilometer . A express train Departure time at Shalimar 6am arrival time at Baripada 12 noon. Best suitable time is for visit Similipal national park is from October to February.
