Thekkady(Periyar) Experience: There is not much to Thekkady. Enjoyed the Elephant ride. Ride in the Periyar River was not much entertaining as could not any of the animals that we longed for. The Kathakali Show & Martial Arts show was fantastic and worth a spend. Add the flavour with shopping the best spices with very reasonable price

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Buy spices. They are of best quality & very reasonably priced. You may check the prices at your relevant cities before leaving for the destination. This will help compare price & quality

Activities & things to do: Not much - may watch Kathakali Show

Thekkady(Periyar) Experience: Periyar lake have extermly good beauty. Thekkady have good surrounding hills. Its weather is good and pleasent . Whole day weather is pleasent so we can travell accorr the town

"Thkekkady a heaven in Kerala"

Thekkady(Periyar) Experience: One of the best hill station in Kerala even better than Munnar. You can stay upto 3 days for enjoying this place. For Sanctury safari you have to suffer a lot. Govt. policy is worst for tourism. Rest of the thing Ok.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Elephant safari is nice. You must go for Jeep safari for sight seeing. It will give you pleassure of sight-seeing. Don't miss it. Spices you must purchase from here from Market traders. Dont go at Gardens even drivers force you to go. Quality and prices both are good from Munnar itself.

Activities & things to do: As mentioned above.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: For Sanctury safari, you need to go at 4am at the ticket window and register your vehicle then you have to wait inside till 6.30am for boat ride. Only 350 people can go once. Total 3 trip in a day. 6.30am, 9.30am 1.30pm. If your no. will not come, you have to back.

Thekkady(Periyar) Experience: Destination seems to be Ok I didnt Like this place. only I like Allepy House Boat.with Food prepared by the House boat cook. In whole kerala trip this was good experience.

Thekkady(Periyar) Experience: The destination is not a hot spot for adventure lovers. There's only one lake around in the area for boating and all and nothing special to consider as natural beauty to sooth you. There's a huge Spices market. You can have diverse range of spices and home made chocolates there at nominal rates.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: For the shopping point of view there's a big spice market there where you can buy diverse range of spices at good price. Nothing else is there for shopping.

Activities & things to do: Nothing much. just one lake is there where you can go and do boating etc.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: If you are a honeymooner couple , don\'t prefer this location as some big adventure and outing oriented place.

Thekkady(Periyar) Experience: nice cool place greenery everywhere pleasing to the eyes friendly locals had a wunderful time not to miss - the periyar wild life sanctuary, the elephant rides..

Thekkady(Periyar) Experience: Pretty cool and fascinating place with cool weather, dazzling winds, good walk through in the jungle(trekking),good sightseeing places in and around the town of Kumily & thekkady was awesome. Having a toast with the culture of Kerala and Tamilnadu was fantastic. It really worths the money to have a pleasant stay in this lovely place.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Enjoyable kerala food in yummy restaurants with a touch of good hospitality was nice. In such a small going around into spice gardens maintained by private sectors was simply superb to know about rare botanical species/varities that we come across in our day today life. Slowly splashing into the waters of periyar wild life sanctuary is cool by enjoying the nature and wonder how pretty our earth is created. You can shop original spices(ecological), home made chocolates, coffee powder, tea leaves, ayurvedic products etc... Also many wooden crafted products are quite interesting to buy.

Activities & things to do: Go for trekking in the early hours into the jungle, take a ride into jungle safari, One can enjoy a mind blowing typical traditional martial arts programme at the Kalari centre in Kumily(Thekkady) and enjoy the art of dance at Kathakali centre. Elephant ride into spice gardens, enjoy the tribal performance with a final touch of musical fountain before having dinner.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: From chennai, one can directly move to KUmily/Thekkady on road. If travelling by flight one can land in Madurai/cochin and take a cab to Kumily/Thekkady. In the town good cabs/ took-took is available with lovable/kind/honest drivers to take you around for sight seeing. Or even the hotels gives good guidance.

Thekkady(Periyar) Experience: It's good to stay for a day halt on the way to Munnar !!!

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: There is nothing much boat safari was good but not as expected to see the animals Kathakali program at evening was really good !!!

Thekkady(Periyar) Experience: Thekkady is a very over rated destination. There is absolutely nothing other than the Periyaar Tiger Reserve, here. If you do not wanna see this, you may very well give Thekkady a miss.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Try the ayurvedic spas & massages.

Activities & things to do: Visit the Tiger Reserve spread over 777 sq kms!! You can stay in the Tiger Reserve, check out the website for details. There are a lot of trekking & camping options available within the park

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Make a note of the Periyaar Tiger Reserve timings. Tickets to the Boat Safari are limited & advance booking can be done. Check with locals. Chances of spotting a tiger is very rare, go for the boat safari only if you have camera with high zooming capacities, or have a hi end binocular; as other animals you spot would be very far away from the boat.

Thekkady(Periyar) Experience: It is place mainly jungle area. Good if u go for night safari in group of 4 to 8 people. Kathakali elephant riding and kalari fight are other attraction.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Good veg hotels available.

Activities & things to do: Safari. Elephant riding kathkali

Thekkady(Periyar) Experience: Thekkady is amazing destination. Those, who love nature, must visit this place. It is all green & cool.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: I love south-Indian food. So it was a treat for me. The restaurant was good. Attractions in this place are Jungle walk, Kathakali shows, & Kerala marshal art shows. It is not necessary to go on a shopping spree in this place.

Activities & things to do: As mentioned earlier, trekking, jungle walk, bamboo rafting, Night walk in jungle are main activities which can be done in Thekkady.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Spend more time in Thekkady rather than in any other place in North Kerala. Reach by road ( hired taxi) from Kochi airport. Hire reliable taxi. Book hotels well in advance.

Thekkady(Periyar) Experience: One can visit this place once for Periyar River Boat Ride and Periyar Tigar Reserve( Sighting of animals @ your own luck)

Thekkady(Periyar) Experience: Nice little town. you can smell cardamom in the air.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Not much available in terms of good vegetarian food.

Activities & things to do: Evening walks to relax. roads are clean and wide.

Thekkady(Periyar) Experience: A good place for weekend expedition. Best thins was massage, and karakali dance and fights. periyar tiger reserver trek was good. but if you are unlucky you may end up seeeing nothing

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Food is ok ok veg people be safe

Activities & things to do: Periyar tiger reserver trek (2k per head ) if you really want to, nothign great there

Thekkady(Periyar) Experience: it is a nice n calm place beautiful and lush green.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: appam, sambhar, coconut chatni i love that tamilnadu view was scenic spice gardens wonderful shopping - jewellery and clothings..

Activities & things to do: elephant riding was a fun watching kathakali dance

Thekkady(Periyar) Experience: The destination was nice especially periar park which is famous for different different birds, lake was great so u can enjoy boat riding over there.in the park itself there are some hotels like KTDC Arayna niwas so if u want to stay in nature there are facility over there. Very big market area u will get almost everything over there famous for ethnic articles, u will also get typical south indian food over there.Regular katthkali programme are conducted by the local groups.climate is ok not like munnar.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Food u will find in market area famous for typical south indian food ,shopping u can do from market are famous for spices .Donts miss katthkali programme it really nice.

Activities & things to do: Watch Katthkali programme,u can do boating in perriyar lake

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: From Munnar its 3 hrs journey ,climate is ok so no need to carry warm clothes.

Thekkady(Periyar) Experience: The destination was jus good with good options to go around and explore on your own.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: The resort food was jus too good to venture outside. And can go for a nice elephant ride, sword fight and kathakali performances..
