About Varca Tourism

Varca is a town located in the South Goa District of Goa. According to history it is believed that in 1510 the Portuguese established a colony in the state of Goa. During the 17th and 18th centuries the Portuguese further expanded their colony to the present boundaries. History of Varca On 30th May 1987, Goa acquired the status of a state and was reorganised into two districts, namely North Goa and South Goa. English and Hindi are the two popular languages spoken in this town. Being a town of Goa, plenty of seafood is served within the region. Things to do in Varca Varca is known for its beautiful beaches and hence is one of the most popular tourist destinations of Goa. Situated at a distance of 2 km to the south of Benaulim Beach, Varca Beach is one of the most prominent attractions of Varca. In addition, it is also one of the longest beaches of South Goa. Benaulim Beach, Fatrade Beach, Colva Beach and Madgaon city are some of the other popular attractions which are located in proximity to the destination. This town was formerly known as a fishing village. Hence fishing as an activity is popular among tourists. Varca holiday packages offer a lot more and can be availed by tourists for their holiday to this beach destination. Travelling to Varca Flights, trains and buses are available to this beautiful town. The nearest airport to Varca is the Dabolim Airport which is located at a distance of around 32 km from the destination. Trains are also available which can be boarded to the Margao Railway Station situated at a distance of approximately 14 km away to reach Varca. Apart from flights and trains, buses can also be boarded to the closest bus stand in Colva, which is located at a distance of 6 km from the destination. The best time to visit Varca is from November to March. During these months the weather is pleasant, as the town experiences winter season. Varca Experience: Great Place , love to come back again sometimes but this time in winters. Must carry Sun screen lotion to protect urself from TAN.

"Varca as a destination"

Varca Experience: It is a place for a private time with family. The buzz, street shopping etc are more in North Goa. The hotels in South Goa are mostly the expensive ones and not for a quick low budget trip to Goa

Varca Experience: A beach that goes on for miles, lot of places to eat and drink, . Fantastic place to get away from it all. The soft white sandy beach is a major draw for several tourists. The Varca beach is quieter and cleaner when compared with the other renowned beaches in Goa. The palm-thatched long houses dot the sandy Varca beach.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Varca, Cavelossim, and Mobor are the most beautiful beaches south of Benaulim. These beaches are much cleaner and quieter than most of the famous beaches of Goa. There are numerous beach shacks offering a variety of Goan dishes and seafood at reasonable prices. There are several food joints around Dona Sylvia where you can get entire package of good food, good drink, nice service, and a pleasant service in quite reasonable rates. There are facilities for Dolphin watching at Betty’s Place as well as boat trips for Dolphin watching up river Sal.

Activities & things to do: Varca Beach offers tourists a wide choice of enticing water sports ranging from jet ski, speed boat rides, water skiing, para sailing and many more. Swimming is the good option for all those who love venturing into the water. During the afternoon you can also take sun bath sitting alongside the beach.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Varca beach is about 2 kms south of Benaulim Beach in South Goa. The major attractions around here is the Benaulim Beach, Margao etc.

Varca Experience: Varca is golden beach with white sands mesmerizing our eyes. It's just calm @ cool while reaching to beach with limited crowds. Personalized beach experience.

Tourist places in Varca

Varca, which is popular as Varca Beach, is one of the largest beach stretches in Goa. The destination is known for its beaches, religious centres and historic buildings. The influence of Portuguese rulers on the Goan culture and heritage can be seen in the colonial mansions. Presenting a rich collection of paintings, furniture and chandeliers, the colonial mansions have been transformed into guest houses and hotels.

Situated along the coastline of South Goa, Varca is draws travellers for its group of beaches that are located near each other. There are churches and historic buildings that depict the lifestyle and architectural styles of the Portuguese.

Tourists can also visit the Legacy of Menino Jesus which houses a statue of Menino Jesus. This statue is an exact replica of the original statue that was taken away by the Jesuits to Rachol. Constructed in the 17th century, the shrine draws attention of tourists and pilgrims during the annual Fama festival.

Margao is the nearest city to Varca and is renowned for possessing many religious, recreational and ancient centres. Tourists can visit the Church of the Holy Spirit which is known for its colonial artwork.

City Hall, Municipal Garden, Damodar Sal and Monte Hill are the other prime attractions of the region. Tourists can also visit Quepem, Borim, Velim, Chandor and Majorda, and Cavelossim and Mobor Beaches, Utorda Beach and Betalbatim Beach that are located in the vicinity.
