Velankanni, an awesome and beautiful place as a pilgrimage centre. A miraculous place, where mother mary blessed with all the petitions of the devotees. A nice place for shopping a lot of Items, Staying rooms, at a very reasonable prices. The most exciting thing is the Beach at Velankanni. Every one must and should have a visit to this place at-leaset once in a life time, to get the Blessings of Annai Velankanni.

"Embarrassed by the local people's behaviour!"

  • 1.0 / 7
  • Posted 3 months ago
Local people have a bad temperament towards fellow countrymen. I was travelling to Velamkanni along my other two friends & amongst most of the people we met were good because we knew the local language. Otherwise it was different story. Harassing people, trying to be aggressive, hurting people was a disgraceful on their part. Never will I or anyone one knowing this would say the people are good & the place very very filthy disgusting. No offence to the values and the rich heritage of the beautiful church. Don't get into the beach its just filled with human waste.

"Great expereince"

  • 5.5 / 7

The experience is amazing. Though Velankanni is still shabby and not maintained well unlike other holy places. Many churches, in and around the Basilica have come up. The morning star church is the new attraction built in a very different style from the usual Church.

We visited Velankanni for the prayer. However, the holy place has lot of attractions. We participated in the morning mass in the main church. We did take some rest at Picnic hotel where we got good service. We visited the new church, Matha Kulam and finally the beach. We did some purchase on beach side shop, had wonderful Kerala cuisine near to Picnic hotel. Overall, a great experience at Velankanni.

Velankanni is a beautiful visiting place for all people. It is near the sea & the entire complex area of the church is well maintained & supervised. Provision for all requirements of the visiting people are done by the authorities. How beautifully & neatly the church complex is maintained! The main hall prayer hall & all concerned annexures are in the best looking manner. Utmost care is attributed for all the simple items.. Really the velankanni tour is a pleasant happy experience.

  • 5.0 / 7

The trip was very nice and peace full. Velankanni is not a tourist place it's a holy place. Climate is very hot in September. In the day time very hot and night is so cool. So I advise please keep an umbrella in hand and take the camera. I forget it so I could not take any pictures. In Velankanni, the food is very poor in the church canteen.

  • 7.0 / 7
  • Posted Sep 19, 2014
Although I am not a religious person, somehow I find the church very pious and it pulled me there almost every year. I love to travel here and I am yet to visit any place but the church here. Food on the way could get better. Yet to find a place with good food on the way from Bangalore. Overall its a great feeling to go there

  • 4.5 / 7
  • Posted Aug 18, 2014
We planned to go there for a month. It's pilgrimage place for my family members. We got a room near the beach. Just for a change we carry all the things from home, vessels, groceries, vegetables, rice. We just bought fish. Two days and two nights we stayed there. First day we bought shrimps and cooked. Second day we got some local special fish and cooked. Both the evenings we went beach and church. Our room was located middle of the church and beach. Beach was a good place to relax and church for prayer.

"Very good place to get blessed from Mother Mary"

  • 7.0 / 7
  • Posted Jul 3, 2014
Very good place to get blessed by Mother Mary. Also if you go with your family, you can feel the trip as a best one in your life. You can get both blessing from Mother Mary and can get the more love from your family by the grace of Mother Mary. I don't know what to say other than this. Its better to feel & realize instead of hearing from others.
