"VLANKANNI TRIP"

Velankanni Experience: Usually Velankanni is a hot place. But in Feb. 2013, when we visited the place, we were blessed to get good rains. That was a very good experience for us.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Food in the Restaurant was good, though we had to wait for a long time. There is no much of shopping being a pilgrimage center.

Activities & things to do: Nothing at Velankanni. Only visit different churches.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: By car is a good option. Can relax and drive as per our desire. Next option is to reach Velankanni by train.

"Overpriced for what you get"

Velankanni Experience: i went there for religious reasons. since we traveled on a week day it was not very crowded so we could peacefully go around

"Visit to Velankanni"

Velankanni Experience: As such Velankanni is a very good Pilgrimage. But as more people keep visiting the place everyday, the local authorities need to take more action to keep the place very clean and hygiene. Hygiene is completely zero in Velankanni. Especially the roads, drainage and the beach area. More public toilets could be built for the use of the common public. Overall the Church is very good and peaceful. But the surroundings should be maintained clean.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: We didnt do any shopping or didnt we have any food outside. we didnt even buy water from any shops outside as the place was very untidy. we had our food in the hotel where we stayed i.e. Hotel Clinton Park Inn.

Activities & things to do: Nil...

Velankanni Experience: Its a very pleasant place. Shrine and the beach is so exciting. Hotel is located very near to the bus stand. We enjoyed a lot in the hotel room services.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Food is fine. Beach is excited very much but shopping is not upto the mark

"Best Holiday"

Velankanni Experience: The place though hot,was very cool at night the short stay over there was excellent ..it rained also there suddenly so it was very pleasant...it is little crowded but the purpose of the visit met.

"My Trip to Vellankanni"

Velankanni Experience: The Location is a very religious place and it will bring you to a pilgrimage environment as soon as you land in.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Food was good in the VPN residency.

Activities & things to do: Pilgrimage, prayer and meditation.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Use the cars / Van. Try to avoid bus as it is hectic. ECR route is very good

Velankanni Experience: Velankanni is a good place. lot of people are coiming to see velankanni madha who gives lot of strength and miracles to their life .

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Good seashore and madha temples

Activities & things to do: we can meditate and pray

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: If you choose train you have to get down at nagappatinam and from there we can take bus share autos for 12 Km travel

"Pilgrim centre"

Velankanni Experience: The place is very convenient from the railway station, so also from the bus terminus. The area around the pilgrim shrine or centre shoud be tarred. The areas should be streamlined keeping in view the parking lots and open spaces for the public to move in and out.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Food was spicy and good. sight seeing could not be done due to time constraints, shopping was normal.

Activities & things to do: being a pilgrim centre, nothing much to improve on.

Velankanni Experience: Very good town with lot of temples & churches . A best beach with white sand & a very cheap market

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Very nice, delicious & reasonable price for food & shopping for t-shirts & sovinars

Activities & things to do: Due to heavy rain cannot make any activities except eating & shopping but we attend the mass in church

Velankanni Experience: Good place to visit when you have time. Will get peaceful mind. Must go place in life.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: You can shop more things that taken from sea.

Activities & things to do: Dhanushkodi is nearest place and that is good to visit.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: IF you reach evening and you will see the church mass and can stay that night and next day can go.

Velankanni Experience: i came there for pilgrimage i really consider the place a very holy place whenever i go there i kinda get a inner peace and joy....

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: its a holy place the highlight is the church on the beach side food is excellent u get every sort of snack and food over there in the beach side esp..the seafood we get on the beach side....

Activities & things to do: there is the beach,church these both places are more than enough to get you occupied the whole day...

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: since trains r available which takes you till there reaching there is easy there are other ways of transportation as well....

Velankanni Experience: destination was good except the hotel which we stayed

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: velankanni church is very important attraction,sead foods are good..even shopping was ok not bad

Activities & things to do: A walk in the evening,attending mass in church enjoy the beach air.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: train would be a better option, even bus journey is good, but not govt transport.

Velankanni Experience: A lovely place - homely, spiritual and attractive. A wonderful place for a family vacation.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Sea food, visit to shrine

Activities & things to do: Relax and wet your legs in the sea.

Velankanni Experience: its wonderful place to see. all people see one time in a life see there. there is main things to see church, beach, shops and the peoples living there. its nice to stay there and enjoy our trip

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: nearly nagore dharga, pundi kovil, kodiyakarai birds sanctuary, we are stay in sea gate its wonderful to stay. there food are nice and near to temple ariyabhavan hotel is nice to eat rice

Velankanni Experience: yes its very nice place,clean & neat & the food quality id excellent especially the breakfast.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: food was indeed very good excellent as per the standards in the industry,given the fact that its located in the remote location of Nagapattinam.

Activities & things to do: nothing special since the place it self is a pilgramge (holy) place

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: best travel tip is to travel by ones own car/SUV etc since bus services are also good but a lot of time is wasted.

Velankanni Experience: This Holy place is a gateway of blessings. Helps to keep our mind and soul calm. Makes the days wonderful and happy. Good destination for meditation, sharing things which leads to new positive openings in life.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: The Hotel Restaurant is the best and hygienic even though it is little bit costlier than outside. Sight seeing and shopping are less in this place, but for a person like me there is no much expectation about it.

"Visit to Our Lady of Velankanni's Church."

Velankanni Experience: It's a Pilgrimage destination and hence, one should visit Velankanni , keeping the same in mind.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Food OK, Auto Drivers fleecing tourist , since MINIMUM FARE RS 30/- this was a few years back when we visited Velankanni.

Activities & things to do: There is a beach , one can go visit the same in the mornings and evenings. There is a MUSEUM , where lot of offerings are placed as also testimonies given by people are also on display. Our Lady of Velankanni's POND where Mother Mary appeared to the lamb boy who was carrying Butter Milk for his master.

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: By train from Chennai to Nagapitanam, and from there a shuttle train to Velankanni city. Driving better avoided as am told depending on the time of travel it's a litte risky. However no untoward incident reported , just a pre-caution

Velankanni Experience: My favorite pilgrimage destination the church of velankanni. At least once in a year we would like to go there and spend a day in the church .

Velankanni Experience: Location was very good, resort location and Bus stop was near by shrine and convenient for travelers.

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Could not find any best hotels, all were average

Activities & things to do: Visit to the shrine, good sight seeing near the sea

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Its good to travel by train and if you are choosing to travel by Bus, SRS is good

Velankanni Experience: Great place to relax near the beach, walk through the old new shrine & newly opened morning star church, best sea food near beach, best food of tamil nadu style especially porota overall a must visit place for christian and others too

Food, sight-seeing and shopping: Hotel Prakash, and the church canteen food are awesome, to enjoy the nature of beach and to have barrel variety of sea food the best place is near the beach, churches are the main attraction there are 3 churches and a holy prayer tower vic is quiet and clam to pray , and other attraction is the beach and Velankanni back waters resort,

Activities & things to do: One can play in beach with ball, or swim, Things to do; visit all the churches, take the holy communion, visit the beach, visit the back water resort, and Pondy church

Travel tips, How to reach, travel warnings etc: Travel by train there are many train to thanjavur from where you can travel to velankanni by bus tempo or even by passenger train (would prefer to travel by train cheap best and faster way to reach app 90km from thanjavur railway) carry enough water to drink, need not to worry abt food bcos u get all variety of foods In railways station and near junction
