The roof top restaurant was a novel feature for a small town hotel. Food was good. Room service was very prompt. They had good options available for breakfast. Unfortunately, most of us [self wife and one kid] had stomach upsets [not sure whether to blame hotel food or what we had outside the hotel premise].

Best Experience: They arranged for a one day trip to Rameswaram at the best rates - it was lower than the rates quoted by single owner taxi driver from the near by taxi stand. Wife started having bowel movements and they promptly guided us to the nearest doctor. In view of this health problem, which spread to self and one kid, we had to stay back for an additional day/night. Though i understand the hotel was booked, they agreed to accomodate us. That was such a relief !!!

Worst Experience: We had to extend our stay as mentioned above but was asked to shift to another room which had Indian closet - not a good option since most of us had a bowel movements

Compared to the other 3 hotels we stayed while we were in India, I would rate my overall experience at the Madurai Regency as a 4.

Best Experience: My best experience was to be able to go on the rooftop to eat dinner, and great view of Madurai... good picture taking spot. The people at the front desk were receptive and kind. The women in our group were happy to receive to complimentary jasmine flower strands to put in their hair. Thank you!

Worst Experience: My worst experience was when an important personal item was “mysteriously lost” from my hotel room while I went to have breakfast. I know it was in my room before I went to the restaurant. We locked our room and placed the sign on our door to let housekeeping know to NOT go into our room. When I came back I realized that item was gone and I felt invaded. Also, the rooms of three of my associates were ransacked while we were out sightseeing. It was a horrible feeling of personal privacy invasion!
