Its gud that u have lot of time...........If u are planning to go to ooty...limit ur Mysore stay to 2 nights.....visit famous places like Mysore place, brindavan Garden, a Church, Chamunda Temple and shop at government handicrafr store (Cauveri I think).....Ooty is atound 200 km from Mysore and last part of journey will be through mounrains so better to start early in the morning to find urself in Mountain after lunch time. Early start will help u to visit few more places on the way like Mudumalai National park and Bandipur National Park. Enjoy Jungle Safari, a lot of elephents thereon.......Cabs may cost a lot after recent diesel price hike .....so no meaning to compare with what I paid a few years back.........If u fully hire (means for 3-4 days which ofourse is a better option) expect around rs 6-8/km +Drivers night charges for Indigo.

Hello, its good time to visit mysore. You will come across the Heritage of mysore. On dussera a procession will be held from main palace to Banni mantap grounds where all the pooja formalities are done and exchange 'Banni" and greet one other. During procession you come across stills,Folk dances and folk activities of Karnataka, diversity if Karnataka, etc., . Their will be an Laser Show, Police motor riding stunts and other colorful activities which really make us astonishing. Please remember to book your lodge prior to visit as the crowd is more. You can visit regular attractions their viz., Palace, Chamundi hill, KRS, Jaganmohan palace, Wax museum, Devaraj Urs road for shopping...... Contact karnataka tourism development corporation for further details. Ooty is just 164 km from Mysore. You can get frequent buses, taxis.

enjoy...................... :D :) 8-)

This is the best time to visit Mysore, though the crowd will be the highest due to Dusserah festival. You have not mentioned whether you are going on holiday or for work to suggest places of interest around mysore. However, depending on the time available, you can visit places within Mysore as mentioned above by the other members, a visit to Kabini Resorts of Orange County(about 90 Kms) for 2 days with be quite refereshing and unique. You can visit Madikere and Thalacauvery, the starting point of river Cauvery, which will take a day. On your day trip you can visit Srirangapatna, where the ancient Temple is located and the nearby Ranganathittu, the bird sanctuary(check with the Karnataka tourist office about the visiting birds).Ooty can be covered in 2 days.
The places of interest in Ooty are the Botanical Gardens, the Lake,Doddabetta hill top and of course the town itself with its celubrious climate.

Have a nice time on our rip.

Six days at Mysore are enough and one can visit Ooty too. In Mysore there are points to visit like Fort, Vrindavan Gardens, Chamundi Hills. Be im Mysore on Sunday between 6 to 8 p.m. so that you can enjy the lighting at Mysore Fort
