How far is Alleppey from Kumarakom? Do we get buses to travel frm these places? What is the difference from these places? Both are backwaters right? Annd how long we need to reach from one place to other? Which one is good to visit first. I am going in the month of July.

Hi,
They are around 60-70 km away. Buses are available but you may have to wait for a direct bus. In case you do not get a direct bus try going to Kottayam, which is the major city in the region and connected to other places.
Kottayam-Alleppey approx 50km
Kottayam-Kumarakom approx 12 km
While both are backwaters, you can enjoy the beach in Alleppey while witness a large variety of birds in the Kumarakom bird sanctuary.

Alappey & Kumarkom are two ends of Vembanad Lake.
Both are Backwaters Venue Sharing Same lake and canals.
Plenty of resorts are scattered around this lake in 40-50 kms area (Kuttanad Region).
Only Diffreance is Alappey town have beach and railway which gives it a feel of city. Any way if you want to stay on backwaters in alappey it will be minimum 10-15 kms away from main city.
Most High end resorts are concentrated in Kumarkom area along with low and medium range. One Bird Sanctury is there in Kumarkom.

Alleppy is about 40 km from kumarakom. Yes, both are backwaters but the added advantage of Alleppy is one of the most beautiful beaches on the Arabian Sea - the Alappuzha Beach. As for Kumarokom, it is the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, that is the USP.
There are bus service to commute between the two places.

Alleppy is around 40 km from kumarakom. Both are backwaters and are worth visiting. Might be Kumarakom will be premium destination compared to Alleppy. Kumarakom, you would be able to view the Bird statuary.
