Posted by Aditya | Sun Jan 27, 2008 11:55 pm

Hi All,

I will be traveling Goa in March 08. I am looking for a budget accommodation and have shortlisted Don Hill Resort and Ave Maria Resort ,both located on Candolim beach Goa. will be using hotel just to sleep and take rest.Would like to know which one of the two is better in terms of room interiors and location (Peaceful but not desolate).

Hi,

We stayed on Candolim at Lemon Tree Amarante.Off season rates are dirt cheap. We stayed there for 3 nights at 6k(nclusive of BF).So if you have that kind of budget it might be a good idea to check this place out.Ofcourse season time the rates in Goa have no semblance of sanity.I saw some earlier reviews on HIQ which did not speak highly of Ave Maria.Don Hill is good though I have seen it only from the outside.Another place you might want to check out is Santa Maria as well as Whispering Palms(the latter wouldnt exactly fall in budget accomodation).

Rgds

We stayed on candolim at casablanca beach .The resort is quite good and staff too.U can check in also there. We got the deal there at just rs.825Rs (a/c room)inclusive breakfast in august and the time u people are going is not an offseason, but still u can find out,i can say the resort is simply superb and one of my friends stayed at tropicana beach resort and that also is good.About your shortlisted hotels i cant say much.Hope the information is helpful 2 u.

Hi Ranjit, Munira

Thanks for the informational replies. I will consider the resorts recommended by you as an option.
However March is considered a Season and I wont be lucky enough to get a deal like you got :).
Munira, Tropicano was also in my list but heard that its very basic hotel. I dont care much about the frills that star hotels provide but atleat the room should look good (Well finished paint job, Clean bedsheets, colorful curtains, well ventilated, spacious). All in all, I should atleast feel I m on a holiday and not just staying at my friends residence. Munira could you please ask the friend of yours who stayed at Tropicano about the interiors and decor. It would be greatly helpful :)

Regards,
Aditya

we stayed in sonesta inn. great location - direct access to the beach. was costly as we had gone in january. i guess off season rates will be less. it was easy to move around in north goa bcoz of the . also a lot of good food options nearby on the more crowded beaches.
candolim is one of the better beaches in north goa as it is less crowded.

We stayed at Sonesta Inn couple of years back. Nice hotel. Check out their prices for March. Haven't stayed at Ave Maria or Don Hill, so won't know which is better.
