pilgrimage to badrinath Q&A

i want to travel to Badrinath with my mother aged 65 my wife and two daughters aged 7 & 2 from delhi.Can Somebody suggest me how to travel from Delhi by road? how many days will it take? Do & do not's ?How to arrange food ,travel, Accomodation? Should i engage a guide? if so How to get One? Religious practices and preparations for the pilgrimage.I want to travel by my own without organised tour pacakges.

The road route will be Delhi-haridwar-rishikesh-joshimath-Badrinath.
Badrinath has road facility fully till the town. From Delhi it will take around 15-18 hours driving.
So, i suggest you halt at joshimath, if u cant take the full distance.
There are lots of lodges and hotels and infact a 3 star hotel sarovar is also there,.
You dont have to take any guide.
food also is available with lots of hotels around.
As for religious practices.
Pitru tarpan is done here at Brahmakappal which is just 5 minute walk from temple,
you can go directly to the place and lots of brahman are available for the same. but do talk over the rates.
In temple Bhog to the lord is very important, do try to make one.,
And also try to get a coin from Mahalakshmi god thro the brahmin, which is very good for your wealth.
