Bike trip from Mysore to Ooty

Hi,
I will be visiting Mysore & Ooty this month. How far is Ooty from Mysore? I was planning on renting a bike to enjoy the road journey from Mysore to Ooty. How is the road condition? Also how will be the weather to drive at this point of time? Is it safe? Please advice me of the do's and don's in the journey.

YOU CAN TRAVEL BETWEEEN MYSORE TO OOTY BY MOTOR CYCLE SINCE THE ROAD IS GOOD AND JOURNEY IS PLEASURABLE AND SHALL TAKE ABOUT 3-4 HOURS BUT IT IS BETTER TO AVOID MOTOR CYCLE FOR LONG HOUR JOURNEYS WHEN TRAVELLING ALONE(.) IT IS BETTER TO BE IN GROUP

It is my advise to reach Ooty from Mysore by Bus or cab.distance from Mysore to Ooty is about 155 kms. time 5-6 hours depending on the weather conditions.In Ooty you hire a bike for all the sightseeing, 2 days would be more than enough.You will definitely love it.
