Chikamagalur next month

Me and my friends are planning on visiting Chikmagalur next month. Is it the right time? What are the places to visit tthere. Suggest some recreational activities.

Yeah its a right time to go .....i would say you book your rooms in a some kind of homestays because the ambience is very nice.

as for the places there are 3-4 places hard to spell so i dont remeber right now and there are no recreational activities there.

not many ppl visit that place so less crowd more nature.

Belevardi, Belur and Halebid temple sites are definitely worth a visit and can easily be done in a day from Chickmagalur by bus (cheap), jeep or taxi (costly but very easy).
We found the cheapest and cleanest hotel is right near the bus stand at a place called Lavasa.
The food in the bus stand canteen is suprisingly good & fresh and cheap.
You can do a day trip to Agumbe hill station, but don't expect signage or people to guide you anywhere. Unless you hire a jeep with guide.
We were ill timed on our trip to the elephant training camp but it is very popular with locals and tourists alike. Make sure you get there by 8-9am as it closes at 11.30 (ish??) Cheap bus will take you there

It is the right time to visit.
We stayed in Devigiri Estate (Homestay)
It the cheap n best there you will get good rooms, Tent houses n tree houses, etc
Very good tasty food available there...

Places to visit around Chikmagalur:
1. Mullainagiri (Top peak of Karnataka) - full of fog - The place above clouds
2. Seetalayyanagiri (Nice place to Trek/walk on the hill)
3. Bababudangiri/Dattapeetha - The place above clouds
4. Maanikyadhara falls - close to Bababudangiri
5. Kemmanagundi - Hill station ( Don't forget to visit Z-Point)
6. Hebbe Falls - very good falls

Be careful about Leeches in 5th n 6th places - be prepared get some amrutanjan/odomos/Vicks/salt etc.....but never miss these places

These r the places around Chikmagalur (Within 50kms surrounding)

This is right time for your trip. You can make a visit to Sringeri too along with other locations suggested by our good friends. As far as accommodation is concerned we stayed at WOODWAY HOME STAY. Hospitality is good. Further details about this homestay is available on their web page.

Its good time to go .U can go to beloor,halebeedu.datta peetha,kemmannugundi.But u must go to Mullayyanagiri hills by road.its the tallest peak in karnataka and its a joy to go to the top of the hill.The road is thrilling.its on the way to datta peetha.The peak of mullayyanagiri has a temple and the view from the top is amazing and can match any hill station...so dont miss mullayyanagiri...
