Coonoor trip
Posted by priyanka | Fri Mar 09, 2012 12:55 pm
We are planning a trip to Coonoor. But my friends are saying its not a place we can enjoy for long. Not much to see. Is it true? I am taking my kids there. Will they be able to enjoy? How is the weather currently over there? Is it cool and calm? Or is it hot like all other place? And hos is Ooty this point of the year? I am planning a vacation of 5 days so please advice on where all i can visit in Coonoor and where i can go after Coonoor.

I suggest you stay in Ooty and visit Coonoor for a full day trip as it is about 20kms away. Coonoor has a tea gardens everywhere you can see. A tea factory is open for visitors and is a good learning on how tea leaves are converted to tea we drink. This is a enjoyable outing for everyone.
Ooty has nice cool weather, good hotels and many good places to visit. So better go to Ooty and enjoy fresh and cool weather.

Hey Priyanka!
You can also include Ooty on your vacation along with Coonoor to cover up all the places together when you take 5 days trip! There are loads of places to visit and indulge with your kids in both Ooty and Coonoor Regions! Comparatively Ooty has got more places to see! Since Coonoor is a smaller town than Ooty, I think one or two days would be enough to cover up the places of Coonoor! Sims park, Dolphin Nose(Water Falls), Lams Rock, Catherine Falls and a couple of Dams are the major attractions of Coonoor!
As far as the Weather is concerned, Both the regions have got pleasant weather conditions! There was some snow falling until last week, but now it has been changed, as we are getting into the summer, the sun started beating down believe me not as the hotter regions of India!
Hope this helps!
Happy Vacation!

I liked Conoor than Otty, since it is less crowded than Otty.
The main difference is in Conoor the choices of hotels will be limited than Otty.

I would suggest Coonoor is a better place clymatically and considering other commercialiasation effect than ooty.
And YES there are lots of things to explore and reaching out to OOTY, PYKARA, Kothagiri, Kodandu etc. are not an issue from here.
There are many nice palces ( hotel, resorts, homestays, cottages, farm stays etc) as well to put up depends on your budget & taste.
Better try a homestay like sunvalleyhomestay or orange mist etc. but make sure you stay at a cozy palce away from crowds and you can get good quality food.
Pl. do post a review of your stay, food and location after your visit.
